War over oil?

cnbc just said that they think theres going to be a war on oil between the U.S. and Russia in teh next 10 years. i think thats a preeeeetty big thing to say.

uhh? but i see russia and us because of oil on the alaskan coast i don't see china going to war with the us, i realize they have a massive growing population but china has no boarders with us.

^^^^Do you even seriously understand what Russia would have to do to INVADE a piece of the US?  You can't be serious.  You see what our country will do to protect allies, it would take a full blown WWIII effort to invade mainland US/Canada/etc.

except for the fact that our two countries economies are so intertwined that going to war with each other would be virtual economic suicide. china has invested billions of dollars in the us economy recently - if we go to war, they don't get any return. also, the us is a large consumer of chinese products - war = them having exports to the us cut off.

and russia and the us aren't likely to go to war either. if anything, they'll support opposing sides of wars in third world countries...not that that doesn't already happen on a semi-regular basis.

i don't have a link to any of the talks about the freshwater shortage, but every day there has been news stories on how the U.S. is going to start running out of freshwater within the next 10 years. most of the natural springs in the states have been sucked dry, and a lot of the water that is left is too dirty to drink. there is a global water crisis, but the U.S. is the first country expected to feel the pinch. if you google "united states freshwater shortage" you're probably going to find a lot of information about it, but hardly any from major U.S. media outlets.

what's even sadder is that nobody can afford to give it, everybody is trying to hold onto theirs for as long as possible, the UN said that by 2030 about half of the world will be under water stress.

War because of oil seems very very unlikely, With all the new reserves being found ad all the green energy alternatives the demand for oil is actually dropping:

I hope your kidding.  There is an ocean between the two, albiet a smaller body of water but still no LAND BOARDER.  So does italy boarder africa because there is only the mediteranian sea between them?

war in the conventional sense is unlikely, such as world war II, globalization is creating an ever more aware and connected world (especially economically) between major states such as Russia, US, France, China ect. it would kind of be ironic to fight for oil, win, and then find that your economy is virtually destroyed, plus they have nukes, US has nukes and this equals no war (nukes to an extent promote peace).

my sister worked for BP and Russia has been stealing our oil that we are drilling somewhere up there.


By the way, if we were in a war for oil, wh hasn't our country seen a drop from iraq? at least its not as corrupt as the oil for food program.

oil is a very important resource and russia tried to create a monopoly on the oil pipelines. we recently intervened and built our own pipeline, the BTC pipeline, avoiding russia completely, this got russia extremely angry and yes, could lead to a potential war over oil
