Cheap music for a ski movie

I'm working on a ski movie with my friends and we want to keep it legit. We have a bit of cash for music but not a lot...any suggestions on good music from small artists?

I'm pretty sure any of the songs/bands in traveling circus would be cheap
or look for an upcoming artist like The Crowns on myspace or something like that
The Crowns sound a bit like The Offspring

You can get music anywhere, and if you mean like actualy bands coming and performing then im pretty sure your out of luck. Please specify what you want and ill try and help ya out

we want to license everything we use so we dont get sued or anything. smaller underground bands tend to charge less for their songs so we're looking for good music from relatively unknown bands

Jemendo.com SP? has all free licenced music most of it doesnt really work for ski movies but you get lucky every once and a while

for a start, check with the local bands in your area...  Go to some shows and talk to them, many smaller bands would be hyped on the exposure.

A lot will depend on what genre you want and what quality you want. I did a soundtrack for a Rollerblade DVD that was on the front of a national magazine a few years ago. It was cool but it was just acoustic stuff. I did it for free because it was only mp3 quality. If you want some samples send me a message

if you look hard enough, you can probably find some band on myspace that is good but unknown and will let you use their stuff just for the publicity

You could just straight up ask some artist if you can have permission to use their songs for free for your ski movie.
