Dimensions of a Hitching Post?

As the title says, I am looking for the dimensions of a Hitching Post, i.e. height and width. I'm planning on building one for my backyard in the winter, and I might incorporate it into my summer-setup.

make the legs two feet or so longeer than you want them to be sticking out of the snow for support

what you could also do is drill holes in the end to put a peg into
you could use tent pegs but the might not last
but if you had a bench/pedestal grinder you could go to a metal supplier and get then to cut pieces of steel and like 2-3 feet long then with your grinder at home grind a point onto it and you got some industrial grade pegs
probably a 1/2 inch diameter solid steel round bar would do the trick

i made 1 and its 10 feet long with 5 foot legs. I chainsawed some tennons into the ends of teh legs so i didnt need any nals or screws.

Its buried pretty deep in this shot so it looks short. The tires dont actully do anything they just make it look like an axel. sp?
