FUCK K2's shitty cores

so I've gone through 2 pairs of 189 hellbents this season. my last pair took 3 fucking days to rip out. I'm over hellbents

so

I'm looking at

189 LL2s or Bent Chetlers

which do you think is least likely to rip out? I rock them as an everyday ripper.

oh... and should I put STH 16s or PX18s on them?( least likely to rip out?)

LL2s are money, from what i've heard they are VERY durable, and surface has a great warranty. i mounted mine with fks 185. sth16 will be less likely to pull out

both pretty equal, surface and atomic use better cores than K2 so the pullout chance is pretty low already. i have live life 2s with sth 16s so im probably a little biased on the binding question, through i belive sth's have 1 more screw in the heelpiece than px's do. someone correct me if im wrong on that...

id say with both skis you couldnt go wrong, they are both super legit companies (so is K2 i guess) but from what ive heard both are like bomb proof, id go with the LL2's just because its the bentchetlers first season on the market so give them a year to get their shit right on it.

as for bindings if the person above me is correct get the STH 16's

maby its the shops mounting job that made them pull out?  it'd make more sense if you used the same shop to mount both and they are doing something wrong.

I love my LL2's ot death so I am, they are skinner at the waist so I would say it is better all-mtn when there isnt any fresh on the ground.

And sth16's will be about 10x lighter then px18 which are heavy as shit

maybe the screws in your bindings are stripped to high hell and its not the skis fault?

I switched the screws after each pull out I've had this year (I've had 3)
and it has been the same heel piece on the same foot every time... I know for a fact that K2 uses soft cores.

I'm going back to solly bindings, I never had this problem in them...

I found a good deal on the LL2s... just got to wait on my sale.

yea i think i heard K2 uses fir cores? thats a really soft wood im suprised i dont hear about more pullouts. most people arent that hard on their skis though.

98% of the screw retention is in the fiberglass. if they keep bulling out it becuase of improper mounting job
i had the same problem with my ar6s pulled out 3 times on one pair so i got ahold of tyson and he got em warretied for me and they pulled out agina so i switched shops and it lasted the whole 2nd half of the season

the first pair of hellbents lasted through 80 days my second lasted 3

the guy who mounted them the second time was an idiot. but it is the only shop in town.

I used to work at a shop, but moved away for college. It sucks having to pay for mounts when I know I can do it better than the guy working there.

I have to drive two hours to get a decent mount.

thats rough man.. pullouts blow! i finaly torw out my heel piece at a spring session so i got ahold of some snowboard inserts aka t bolts and strait up drilled through my skis! they ride fine dont even notice and there isnt a chance in hell of pull out lol

plus the bindings are now easily removable!

Your situation sucks, but so does your generalized claim about K2's 'shitty cores'. Could have been a fluke, could have been a bad mount. Hopefully you sent them in either way.

I've ridden line/K2 the last few years, and I love both companies... but I am sick of pullouts. so I'll try them in a while, when I decide to go back. but for now I am going to try another ski. I love the artwork you've been doing and the products are amazing. I am sure I 'll more K2 skis in the future.

You may want to try having them mounted using Helicoils with the screws, I've used to have a lot of bigger guys who ride hard ask to have their stuff mounted with them.

Ya, without helicoils my mad'ns would have ripped out by now, and I just haven't ridden the bents enough to need them.

the shop wouldn't let me use their jigs/tools for liability and my shop is a two hour drive.

Are you saying that K2 warranties rip-outs on a regular basis?  I thought this kind of thing was usually out of the question... I just ripped out my bents for the second time on separate mounts.

well "technically" its considered a faulty mount. at least by armada (says so on there warrenty page)
but, usually companies want to keep you loyal and will hook you up to stay on there skis
thats what tyson did for me and i was pretty stoked!
talk to your shop guy he will know who to call

Fuck, so you're saying that I could have had mine warrentied instead of ripping them out 4 times this season, 2 of which were ripping the heli-coils out? And they were all done at different shops each time.
