wow, so much hate for northstar its ridiculous. but, all of the comments about it are untrue because those who posted beside the one above has ever spent any time there.
let me start out by saying ive skied northstar as my main mountain for 8 seasons now. i have seen it all.
Northtars park is sick. no where else in tahoe can you hit jumps, rails, and pipe all in the same run. The past two seasons they have had good jumps with a consistent 3 for most of the year that is about 20 35 50. They put in progressive features and change the park set up EVERY SINGLE WEEK. this last season I had to actually ask that they leave features up a little longer.
They have a progression park now which keeps the gaypers out for the most park. They have a powder park called the stash that is mostly snowboarder oriented but has all natural features and is super fun on pow days.
same elevation as truckee? um, no. They get the same amount of snow as everyone else. They have super sick powder skiing. yes, its true. anyone that says otherwise hasnt spent any time there and bothered to explore. cliffs, mini golf line, and some of the best tree skiing i have ever ridden.
there are a lot of people there on the weekends, but they do a good job keeping them off the park chair, especially so in the last two years. if lift lines are the thing that really gets you down, you can buy the vertical plus pass for 99 bucks and basically skip the lines completely.
The walk from the parking lot may suck but thats what buses are for. and the scene? its chill. everyone knows everyone else and are there to have a good time. and best of all, there arnt too many skiers there so you definitely have a community vibe when you ride there.
I think that should address most of the comments about northstar, hands down the best park in tahoe.
