ya so im reading some of it for school, and im thinking to myself...WHY!? i mean the only thing i learned was not to kill my father and marry my mother. and i think i was pretty stright on thoes matter b4 hand. anyone agree? we dont need to learn this stuff.

i dissagree with that statment, personaly i feel that the more you know the better off you are. i think its intresting to see how many of the plays written by the greeks have the same thems and to some extent plots as those written by shakepear thousands of years later. its also kinda cool to think about things like greek plays were only written for 3 actors and a chours of 15.. but in many of the plays there are casts of 11 or more. and yah, maybe highschool isnt the best place to be teaching it, but thats the way it is and there isnt too much that you can do about it, so you might as well try and enjoy it. it is better than grammar

good call, life lessons, and its somtimes revealing of our own society, as insane as that is, its true, we see people in our society so full of pride that they fail to see their wrongs.

The Odyssey is my favorite book and I first read it for school, so you could get something out of it. Also, don't take the story for what it is. Look for deeper references - for example: in the Odyssey, there is a part where they are all eating a certain plant's roots and then they go on an adventure. Doing drugs? Umm yes.

I think greek drama is actually some of the most interesting literature there is to read. Its actually interesting to read into and always has some weird shit going on in it.
