Replying to MP3 player

I know there have been other threads on mp3 players, but they haven't really helped me. I'm looking into buying one, but i'd like to know what you all think is best for skiing. I was thinking about an iPod, but i don't know anymore since a lot of people don't seem to be happy w/ theirs. I don't think i want a MD, but i'm not sure. I don't need to be able to hold 10,000 songs, but i'd like something that can hold a good amount. I'm thinking about $300 or less. Any help would be appreciated
