Tried search bar... Want to get a mac, but don't have the money for macbook pro.
I have another monitor and an external hard drive 500gb.
Is it possible to run Final cut studio on just a macbook?

You will be just fine. The video card in the standard MacBook is pretty peppy in the laptop world.

Yes and buy aftermarket ram.. make sure you use the external as your scratch disk or else you'll fill your laptop up fast..

Macbook Unibody? Or White/Black Macbook? I have a Black macbook and FCP will NOT let me install because of the graphic card. So I have to use FCE....

my MBP does the job just fine. if i wanted, which i dont at school, i can have an external monitor and FCP runs well with 4gb ram. If your going to school for it seriously think about the MBP

mbp = better overall compared to regular mb
it'll run much better/faster on a mbp rather than a mb
if you're going into video editing as your MAJOR, then i'd say definitely go for the mbp

i hate to turn this into a mac vs pc thread, but you have to ask yourself, "do i need a mac?" the answer is most likely no. for the same price as a macbook or macbook pro you can get twice the computer, and just run premier, its basicly the same program.

He wants FCP.
FCP>Premiere (IMO)
Therefore he should go for a mac.
