Preparing skis for rails

i gots me some new cronics and im wondering is their anything i can do to stop me from catching an edge on the jibs

1) ive heard of people dulling the edges at the bindings so they slide better laterally, how do i do this and is it a good idea

2) does wax help with them

3) is their any truely better position of the skis than both flat on the box

i got some new skis first run hit some rails really wasnt an issue unless your spinning on just because you might not be prepared for the more gripy edge....or just ride around on them for a day or two without hitting rails and let edges "calm down"

If you want to detune, take a file and just run it along [mostly the underfoot and a little farther and behind it] theres no cons to doing this, except its either sharpen or detune[dull] and you can only do that so many times, u cannot go back and fourth but u can for a decent ammount although theres no point.

i just hit rails normally and never really have a problem with it they detune naturally and doenst detune the parts where u want for carving so much really idk

i would detune before hand.
in my experience, when i have left my edges fresh and sharp and hit rails, it seems like it takes a good chunk out compared to detuned edges.  This about it though, what is going to catch more?  Sharp or dull?
So yeah, detune  underfoot first.

Use a diamond stone or a fine gummi stone if you are going to do it. A file is pretty brutal, yes you will be hitting rails but a nice smooth detune will hold up better. I would just ride them, but if you do detune, a diamond stone or finer gummi stone for sure.

I don't detune becuse you loose your edge where you need it most, I bevel the edge 3 degrees on the base all the way up and down the ski so there is less chance of catching or cracking.

if your sliding lots of rails and always in the park take a bastard file at a 45 to the edge but if you wanna keep em all mountaint id say the bevel is a better idea. if you wanna wait then ride em out

Just ride around on the mountain with them for a couple of day and let the edges dull on their own instead of trying to do it yourself..

don't be a pussy, file it down. especially if it's not your only ski. doesnt need to be much more than o foot tho
