Why should drug tests be mandatory for students?

I need you guys so be on the YES side, meaning its a good idea! It'll help alot for my debate.

Well think about it this way

Do you want kiids coming to school on PCP, or what not, Freaking out?

No its a bad idea, and with the drugs come the problems, such as violence, Gang activity due to dealing on eachovthers turf

Also, you dont want distracted students, or students who may cause problems

use court cases. theres one about drug testing students called vernonia v acton. I think it was either allowing blanket testing or random testing in extra curriular activities. The other one might be earls v something. But when the courts are on your side it helps

drug testing in schools is ridicolous. i smoke a lot of pot and pop pills and still pull a 3.5 gpa.

what would they be accomplishing? nothing.

it has nothing to do with what your grades are, and frankly a lot of kids are distracted by their drug taking friends.

the point is drug use is illegal.

When I was in high school my school "randomly" drug tested any students in co corricular activities... they would call down like 5 students ever tuesday during 2nd hour. What did it accomplish? Nothing..... people are going to smoke weed or do what they want regardless if the school could test them. Besides... the only thing they could do if the test came back positive was sit the student out of their activity for like 3 games and call their parents. From my personal experiences... high school drug testing is pointless.

my friends drop acid and e in school occasionally, I just fuck with them real bad.  We locked my one friend on acid in a bathroom stall for the whole day cause he wasn't functional... I also made him sit next to his sister high as fuck, good times.

are you serious? why would someone be distracted by their friend's taking drugs? get the fuck over it...seriously. unless someone is seriously putting their life in danger (which is almost never the case), it shouldnt matter what they're doing. if you dont want to be involved, either accept it or get some new friends?


the point is drug use is illegal? well, if you're saying that to help him with his debate, then ok, thats a good thing to bring up. but if you're serious, like the first half of your post seemed to be, then, no. first of all, prohibition doesnt work. second, just because someone is doing something illegal, doesnt mean everyone should be watched closely for it and everyone should suffer.



back to the original thread. you could use her point about saying drug use is illegal. and while at school, the school is responsible for the students, and if it feels as tho drugs are becoming a problem, they should be allowed to do the tests simply because drugs are illegal. especially in the case of minors.

kinda sorta with that ^ point. school's are drug free zones, so just because you dont have possession, you're still bringing them into the school by doing them because obviously people talk and such.

you could say with all the drugs used in sports these days, its a good idea to send a strong message at a young age that drugs aren't allowed. sure, theres the kids that dont play sports, but thats a big chunk that you could test. this could prevent drug use later in life?


i dont think they should test, but thats just me. these^ are just to help you out

sooorrry but i dont agree.what ever happened to personal privacy...its doesnt mean that kids are coming to school high when they come up positive...it just means they've used in the last couple weeks...i think its soooo lame...we dont have drug tests unless someone "anonomously" tells the guidance counselors because they are worried about u which i think is bullshit...thank god highschool is almost over!!

well the fact of the matter is that i feel as per your american constituion, that drug search would be illegal.

on another note, yes i did go to high school! O M G
so therefore, i know a lot of people who spent more time fucking high and not passing school and a few also who spent more time fucking high than graduating and those who barely graduated by going to night school.

so, while there's the odd person, i.e. my brother who did shrooms/pot and whatever else and got 90s in highschool and then liberal arts in college, that still doesnt account for the mountains of fuck ups.

and btw, if its illegal, dont piss and moan if you get caught.

everyone of you stupid fucks answering about how drug testing is stupid blah blah blah should be shot. learn to fucking read!!!!!! he is against it to, but that's not his god damned assignment. idiots.

anyways to help you out here...

i'd bring up points such as:
-they're illegal, school has responsibilities
-could easily effect grades of students
-causes distractions during class
-find some statistics of avg. grades of drug abusers vs. non drug abusers (this will definitely be in favor of non drug abusers because of biased info haha.)
-find statistics of drop out rates of the two above groups. (again biased info will be your friend.)
-students waste time out of school as well instead of studying they're shooting up heroin.


i don't know that's a few reasons you could probably use for debate, although it is hard typing that shit when you're so against it haha.

well i dunno where you see that its illegal in the constitution, but im no supreme court justice, nor do i think it should be legal anyhow.

i went to hs too. more people in my grade smoked weed and smoked more weed than any other class that we came in contact with during our 4 years. and guess what, just cause you smoke pot doesnt mean you're gonna do bad in school. someone that's lazy and irresponsible, is going to be regardless if they smoke weed or not. infact, my junior year i smoked almost every day, but also had the best grades of my school career. and we didnt even get a second chance at night school, wtf is that shit.


its not an odd thing that you're brother was the same as me, as ive seen numerous instances and have personal experience. people use smoking pot as an excuse to being lazy and its retarted. mountains of fuck ups? please, do you know how many people smoke weed? ted turner, creator of cnn admits to smoking a joint everyday and has been doing so for a very long time. one of the guys that created mac computers smokes pot. basically every musician/artist in the last 40 years smoked pot. you cant be serious...


oh and when i get caught with weed, most cops arent going to say anything but throw it out, if they even do that, because its decriminalized in NYS. either that, or i pay a 100 fine...oh ill piss and moan...not. i hate ignorant people like you that dont actually think for yourself before you speak and believe everything the government tells you.


sorry to highjack the thread a little(it might actually be good because you can prepare for the types of arguments that have been brought up), but i just hate ignorant people like this and it's one of the reasons why cannabis is still illegal today.

mean =[, but usually neither!  Truth, my friend was on acid and I made loud noises in his face and sat him next to his TWIN sister, and then put him in a bathroom so he couldn't cause more trouble.  And I try to fuck with my friend who takes e, but it doesn't work, he just has huge pupils.  All truth here, and the kid who did the acid agrees that it was funny, but he thinks I'm a douchebag for it!  So I suppose you're right...

2. if you did say that, and you believe that, then as i stated before, a person is going to be lazy regardless if they smoke weed or not. sure theres times when you're high and you dont feel like doing anything, but people that smoke regularly aren't necessarily lazy. people use smoking as an excuse for their laziness, when they were lazy to begin with.
