Im trying to pick a longboard.

I have long boarded very little and want to get a relatively cheap one for getting around campus next year
i was thinking either a Kracked Skulls M1

or a legendary gnome

Would anyone recommend one over the other or something else? Im only trying to spend around 150
any and all help is greatly appreciated

No idea, all I know is they be mad fun, good luck finding the right now, personally you can't really go wrong with anything :/

kracked skulls are pretty sweet. never heard of the second company, but it looks like they use original trucks, which are really good.

The Legendary Gnome is wayyyy to short. I have a 40 inch kracked skulls and I wish I had gotten the 46 incher every time I use it. The Gnome is 27 inches. When you take the shape into account it gives you like 10 inches to stand on without worrying about your feet hitting the wheels.

I also thought legendary was somewhat expensive?


I would go with a 46" M1, with Flashbacks if you want the best board for the price, hands down. If you're willing to spend a bit more I would go 46" Scimitar with Lime BigZigs.


Either way, you'll have fun.

Don't stress over 6" if your only concern is carrying it around.  I would go for it.

You must consider: if you want a longboard for transportation around campus, if your campus is flat, get a heavier board, youll be able to get more momentum and go faster, else get lighter boards

Do you want to cruise around, get a long board, if you want it to go from lesson to lesson with it, take one that you can still carry around easily, if youre more of a skateboarder, take shorter longboards.

I ride a pretty standard sector nine uluwatu/pipeline, its a rather heavy pintail thats super stable and easy to push around, even when youre drunk....

Have fun and try to get your hands on one of these boards before buying them!

i believe the m1 has bigger wheel cut outs (i forget the actual name for it, someone will know) so you can put larger wheels on

if you want a short, handmade longboard for a good price check out this Loaded. I have the Loaded Vanguard and it's by far the most fun I've ever had on a longboard.

don't worry about it being too big for campus, i use a full size sector 9 pintail for campus, and have no problems. you just put it up against the wall in class.

I just picked this setup, but 43", a couple months ago (from a recommendation of NS) and I love it. I use it to cruise around my hilly ass campus and it's awesome. The decks nice and low and wide so it's easy to push around. Also it's really not that big at all. I bring it to class all the time and carrying it isnt a big deal. I My friends have sector nine and never summer boards and I like mine so much better.

For the price, it's a sick setup and I haven't regretted it once.

That is my set up, 46'' m1 with 70mm flashbacks and it is such a fun board i love it so much.

The Loaded Pintail I gave the link for is only $30 more than their cheapest complete board.  I'd for sure save up the extra $30 if it was me.

Average for a cheap non-handmade longboard is $140-180.  This one is handmade and $180.

Nice try though.

I've read some mixed reviews on XVD decks... like some easy pressure cracks on their bamboo deck and some bad things about their wheels... but people say their dancer is pretty legit.

Good to know.. The next board I buy is probably gonna be fiberglassed to avoid those pressure cracks. My friend is making some 48" pintails with that cloth epoxy graphic deal that longboard larry does.. should be pretty sick, I might pick up one of those lol

LBL is definitely legit. I have only heard good things about those boards. I would love to pick up a CF downhill topmount but I don't have the funds... They are soo sick.

I have been doing a little research as well because I am starting to get into long boarding.  I found a board that I might get, its a Sector 9 "hills" model. From its description it sounds like the board that you are looking for!
