Attaching pvc

what is the best way to attach pvc to wood? ive tried making boxes and rail out of pvc and have not found a very good way to do it any suggestions?

im pretty sure most people drill screws from the wood to the pvc and put bolts inside the pvc to keep it in place

The best way is to search this forum for the 100 other threads...

Pre drill a hole in the top of the pvc, then drill the screw through the pvc into the wood. The screw head gives the pvc support and doesnt make it move around. I have done this with all my rails and it hasn't stopped working yet. and no the holes dont fuck you up

why wouldnt you just screw in from the bottom?

alright i have never done it that way so i can't say i know what happens, but i know from much rail experience that drilling through the top works perfectly. Drilling through the bottom you risk the chance of the screw stripping and having the pvc come up from the wood. just my 2 cents. do what you awnat

thats a good point, in fact one of the pipes on my old box has a stripped screw, nothing that cant be fixed with epoxy or just redrilling though. but to the OP, dont let a hole from a screw on the surface of the pipe where you slide scare you. Ive used pipe where there are holes on top from drilling and you dont notice it at all

attach it with nails at the ends, and use liquid nail along the sides all the way down

ya i tried looking in other forums but there wasnt a lot of info ive tried drilling holes in the top and wasnt sure if it screwed you up or not i was just checking +K for good answers

I used U bolts. drill two holes on the sides and slide the U bolt through. then drill two holes in the peice of wood and slide in the ends of the U bolts. I found this on youtube. type in How to build a rail for skiing. its the first one i think.

what mohn said works for me.. and is what i always do... the u bolts are super easy and very easy to dissassemble.. good way to do it right there..

well that works, but if you want a more permenet rail, drill in like you said, but use liquid nails! it works, but put some on the bottom before hand, so that it will stick even better, than line the rest of it around it. and wweight it down.
