wow.
you guys dont know the half of it. 110 miles, took 8 hours in record 97 degree heat. in the fragmitis (suuuuper tall grass, like swampy ground type stuff) a guy had his computer on his bike read 107 degrees. that grass held heat like a damn oven!!!
so heres the fun part (not really), they take us down the sluice, which is like an overflow thing for the delaware canal, and at the end of course i go down. my 250f sucks in water, we revive it back to life and i get to the next gas stop. ---- long story short, at 109.5 miles. i snap my con-rod and blow my motor.
i litterally pushed my bike the last half mile in 97 degree heat, and got 2nd place. i lost 27 minutes in the last section, yet so many people dropped out, orrrr just plain sucked, i beat most of them in my class.
68 people out of the original 327 people finished. it was one, bitchen, tough-ass, hot, hot, heat-stroke, throwing up, getting stuck, hitting every damn tree----type of day.
and in the end its gonna cost us over 2 G's to rebuild the motor. this was the bike i was given for "free" (its under contract so i give it back at the end of the season) so we are talking to the representative about our options to fix this as cheap as possible
heres a video of the notorious, sluice!!!
you ride in on a concrete slab which had about 2 feet of water or so, and then it thins out ....just to drop you into the rocky part! overall it wasnt that bad...but it is definately tougher than it looks, you cant tell where any rocks are at all! (or holes)
