I found this video on youtube and it looks like these kids have a great drop in idea. It looks like they get plenty of speed w

ith almost no hill. Anyone tried this or have thoughts on it?

HAHHAHA im a goofball. thats me in the blue shirt and vest haha wow.

thats vtskier_RP's setup. its really fun/light/easy to make. the in-run is just 2 10ft 2x4's with 3/4 inch pvc spaced down the middle. its really cheap and fast to make and it works well. the only bad part is that its hard to control your skis if the pvc is face up. for most of the vid the pvc is face down so its mixed with the grass and you can control you skis by pushing them against the sides of the wood.

if you can't afford anymore wood, or you don't have the right tools for doing much more this setup is perfect.

since we all improved a lot this winter a new setup is in progress so we can hit a variety of bigger rails

Looks like that works well. Im making one of those for sure this summer, but then again i can go to hood. Either gets me stoked.

I'm definitely going to build this drop in. I have a slightly bigger hill than in the video and it looks really easy to make.

I just built mine yesterday. They were very simple to construct but I have yet to try them out. I built two 8 foot long sections.

alright here are the dimensions because people have been asking

They are both 8 feet long, the 2x4s are spaced 17 inches apart from one another, and the pvc is every foot. If i were to do it again i would space them every 10 inches.

To have more control i would recommend putting a third 2x4 going down the center. This would create two lanes for your skis to travel down if you flip it so the pvc is on the bottom and 2x4s are on top.

I tried mine out today. In this quick video I was too slow. However I soon figured out how to get enough speed. I turned the top section over, and I learned you need to always keep it wet. I had to push with my poles.

SUCCESS!

I found that shimming the drop in so there is very helpful. I have plenty of speed. You can leave both drop in pieces upside down.
