theres so many gay ass comercials with people showing their gorgeous smiles and shit.  But they all look like huge tools. anyways i think its funny how obsessed this country is with fucking teeth

^I think it's unfortunate that you've been conditioned to say that. Braces are not part of hygiene, save maybe for very extreme cases, e.g. Shane Mcgowan. Braces, teeth whitening and the likes are just another false need created by the media. I can clearly tell when people have had braces and to tell you the truth it's kind of a turn off. I don't see any difference with being turned off by picture perfect teeth and a clear face lift or nose job. Little imperfections are just part of life.

having straight teeth has more benefits than just looking nice. braces help jaw problems, headaches, and help you to keep your teeth when you get older. I got braces because i needed to re-align my jaw because it was crooked,i didn't even need them to straighten my teeth out... moving my teeth changed my bite which moved my jaw. by doing that it guaranteed that i wouldn't have to get the surgery my mom and one of my friends have had, which is breaking your jaw, moving it to the right position and then screwing it back together. you would never know that i had those problems by looking at me, but i did.

Headaches? Give me a break. Loose your teeth? Hardly likely. Jaw problems? Fine, maybe, though it's probably not very common.

Don't tell me those are the reasons people get braces. Because they aren't. People were more than fine before braces and whitening strips came around.

i agree with your views, but proper dental care is one of the reasons our life expectancy has increased over the years. Back in the day before dentists and dental hygiene, people died in their 30s and 40s pretty commonly.

Fuck the media for brainwashing the youth and creating stupid fucking people.

You obviously don't have any clue what you're talking about. All of those things can be caused by misaligned jaws and teeth. Whitening has nothing to do with it, but braces definitely serve a much larger purpose than aesthetics.

Not really.

What you are probably referring to is that there is a certain type of bacteria that is fairly common in the human mouth that can cause heart attacks. If you don't brush and floss your teeth, you can get gingivitis, causing your gums to bleed which lets the bacteria enter your system. This has been linked to heart attacks in some cases.
