Overblown/light effect in a part of a scene (video)

don't know how much help i'l be able to get here but...

im trying to figure out a good way to do this effect and i really don't know what to call it which is making it harder to find something to start with.

anyway its kinda like a window would be really overblown but its not just in camera...like your creating a light for it in post...

k i cant explain it, its used in this video at 11:20 and onwards, if thats to far in for you just pause it let it load and skip to it if you think you might be able to help. its a very well done short though so watch if you have the time.

i think that was done mostly with lighting and camera work, not in post.  I could be very wrong but i think they set up next to a bright window, set their exposure for inside, then the bright light showing through would just be whited out.  It must have been an extream difference but i think thats how it was done (again could be wrong on that let me know if you find out)

From the looks of the film, it looks like their lighting budget was pretty small.  They probably waited for the sun to be shining directly into that side of the building, then let the window overexpose and bloom out.  They were also using a 35mm adapter so if you throw the focus out you get that odd shaped human figure.

So the above combined with a soft focus filter and some cc, that's how they did it,

il give it a shot. i also thought this up today, if i got the window basicly white i could add a glow and just bring the threshold up really high to give it that kinda glow. dunno how well it will work but yeah haha

it not film, it looks like it is a Panasonic HVX200

That video was pretty sick. I liked it a lot. The whole movie looks like it was desaturated a bit then used adjustment layers to blow it out. Damn that was good.
