Out of curiosity, what are your beliefs on the existence of God?

Please be precise, and try to conform to the following:
1.  Does one exist?
2.  If so, who/what is it?
3.  Said God's moral standards?
4.  Why do you believe in said deity?

Rules to the thread:

Then who taught you?  How do you know what is good and what is evil?
Is there good?  Is there evil?

Society is based on ideologies, right?  Where did Society (a group of people) find out what they thought was right?

One guy could think taking from others is good, another not.  How can a society with mixed feelings about a subject determined what gets written in the books in the end?

Fine, you don't think God defines your life.  I accept that.  But just answer my questions cause I'm curious.

Fringe theories?

Both that I mentioned have been around since I was a kid.

To this day, I have no evidence that God DOES NOT exist.
Like you have no evidence that he DOES.

i learned it from experience and my parents.  there is no such thing as good and evil, there is only right and wrong.  and society found out what was right and wrong based on experience...  some all knowing being didnt tell them

Okay.

I tried to explain that the Big Bang could be explained by a God who set it into action.

As to why God can be unexplainable, same idea.

I tried to state that IF a GOD were to exist, he must be so powerful that we could never understand him.
God, by definition is a primordial being that brings all into existence.  How can a God be God if he had a beginning?

In short, I can explain what happens until you ask where God came from, since I believe it's a given that he came from...himself?

But it's just as safe to say:

I believe it till i'm proved wrong

as

I believe it till I'm proved false

but in one case, I save my ass later if God DOES turn out to be real, and if he doesn't, I don't lose anything.

How long does it take to learn it?

Why don't animals have ethics then?  They've been around as long as us, if not longer according to evolution.

Look, all of the stuff in my world I can say with some certainty exist. If I want to see proof of something, say, gravity, I can make an experiment, predict an outcome, do some tests and arrive at a conclusion.

The stuff you seem to believe exists because of 'a feeling', and at best, it must be because you can neither prove it, nor disprove it. Doesnt one of these philosophies sound maybe a little fucked up?

ok. so your coming up for what is YOUR explanation for the big bang. but you say OUR explanation (or lack thereof) for the big bang is unacceptable because we dont know.


yet then it IS acceptable for you to say god is unexplainable.

I was kidding about the spaghetti monster, but you knew that.

All the stuff in my world I can use science to prove just as you can.  But, I just take it one step further to say "WOW, and I have an amazing God to thank for it all."

I cannot prove to you God's existence.  You cannot disprove it.  Let's leave it at that, and stop clawing at each other.

I don't neccesarily believe in right and wrong either, I just have an opinion based on experiences and observation that I have accumulated.

Morals and right and wrong have existed much longer than the 10 commandments and Christianity.  How did the Egyptians know right and wrong so many years before Christianity?

The fact that God is unexplainable is one of the crucial elements of all three major connected faiths (Christianity, Islam, and Judiasm). Thus how is it hypocritical if that's one of the important elements of faith?

It would be nice, wouldn't it?

But that also defeats the purpose of the New Testament.  That true believers would believe on faith, and faith alone.  If God just poked his head down here every once in a while, it'd be kinda obvious, and He states in the Bible he'd rather us come to him by CHOICE, not by FORCE.

And then there is the Book of Revelation, with all it's nasty, confusing details I have NO IDEA how to explain or even start discussing.  But generally, it says the in the end, God DOES come back, and everyone is like "Ooooooh shiiiiit."

I could say that yours is ignorant because it relies on a supernatural being to do everything.

The fact is that we can't comprehend the universe or how it was made, sooo we have made a story to make it seem like we understand everything, which is pretty ignorant.  That can go for the Big Band theory as well as God.

Maybe he did?

In the Old Testament, there are accounts where God smacked his Chosen People around for forgetting who he was and what he had done for them.  What if the Jews, because they refuse to believe the New Testament, or some other mishap, got Hitler for their idiocity?

In that case, it's more like punishment for being bad.  But everytime in the Bible, he saves them at the last second.  WWII, he "did it again."
