BUSTED: The Citizen's Guide to Surviving Police Encounters
A video on what to do when you encounter police. Its like 45 minutes long.
So my question is at 40. when the cops come to the house party, she steps outside and closes the door. I always thought that you should never step outside of your house so they can't touch you or anything. Anyone know whats better? or have any other thoughts or comments
What would be the big deal if the cop touched you? Obviously when you go outside to answer the door take all your "contraband" out of your pockets and you're good.
I have heard stories where someone stepped outside and the cops like handcuffed him or something. He said to never step outside your house and they can't touch you.
The cop probably had no right to do anything when outside, but is it not safer when inside? Like with the example in the movie she steps outside and has been drinking (maybe smoking) and is underage.
It might be safer but at least you know that when you are outside there is no way the officer can come in unless he/she has a warrant. If they put handcuffs on you then they'll eventually get in trouble if you pursue the matter.
protect your party and everyone inside of it; talking through the cracked door will only let them hear and smell and see whatever it is they are looking for. go outside and tell them they can't come in without a warrant (if they're asking to come in) and work out whatever issue it is they came to resolve.
