Mt. Snow=Boring Box capitol of world

I love the new idea of the whole terrain park mountain face, but then they painted over all the boxes with black. They look boring, and the most complex box is a trapezoid. That sais a lot. We need to talk them into getting new boxes. C-Boxes, S-boxes, or even a lame rainbow box would be better then these crappy straight black boxes. I relized how behind they are when i went to Blue Mountain in the poconos, aka the worst mountain to ski on ever!!!!! Even they had sicker boxes then mt snow. Wow Carinthia Park dudes wow....

Dude they have no curved rails either, they have kinked and down and shit like that, but nothing challenging or cool. Its getting old

Be thankful you have a big park, lots of  kids on here would kill to have a park with more than 2 or 3 rails.

With all the new freestylers comin to Snow, they dont hav an excuse like "We dont have the money" or something, all im saying is aside from thew new face, a few small inexpensive changes will make a huge difference in the long run. For example, cooler boxes and rails, and paintr over the boring black paint they put on the rails and boxes.

^ wow sick edit. and seriously why are you complaining about the color of the boxes at a ski resort?carinthia is one of the best parks in the east, and clearly they had some curved rails: a rainbow box, a huge rainbow rail and a huge roller coaster rail.

couple things here.

first- mt snow doesnt care about carinthia parks, ie. the mount snow open. lets take in over $9k from the event and only give 700$? i think it was to first place? 

second- the reason no one looks in the blog is because the loser that was running the website got laid off like 2 months ago because mt snow doesnt care about it.

third- the best rails are in prospector anyways, they even had 2 rainbow logs. plus its part of the money run aka mineshaft to prospector to lower nitro which was the tits all winter long

that is all.

hating on mount snow really? they dedicated a large portion of their mountain to park and that wasn't enough. Even if you don't think it's great, which it is, you have to learn to make the best of it. I love when people hate on mount snow or TWA hates on killington yet some of the best riders out there are creative enough and love skiing enough that they would glad shred the shit out of mole hills you've never heard of and have more fun than you thought was possible doing it.

until this thread I never even thought about that. I mean i am plenty satisfied with DFDs, aframes, down rail variations, up boxes. They did well for their first year with all the new shit. just give them time and it will only get betterz

thanks man. its actually vtskier_RP's setup. they have a snowgun which is really sick and i think 17 rails in all even though a lot are connected most of the time haha. the guy who built their house was nice enough to let them keep a LOT of wood and pvc.

yea, next year its going to be even better. i do agree that some c-rails/boxes and or s-rails/boxes could be used.

they had the wierd rollercoastrer rail in inferno. that was pretty steep.

That big rainbow was one of the most fun rails on the mountain. i htink they had a little lame rainbow somewhere too.

I think they were just feeling everything out this year. Seeing how it would be with the full mountain park.
And im pretty sure it was a success. They did get a few big rail deleiveries in this year.


i was kinda bummed that they didnt have any c's or s rails, but it was still a ton of fun. More jumps/rails than anywhere else i went. You could get so many hits in each run, feverything was setup from when you get off the lift till you hit the lift at the bottom.


Idk if its the reason, but they did have a lot to worry about when making the dew course, and getting that event legit.

and they have like 250 fan guns in place now. It def shows that they care



im sure next year will be epic.

idk what there is to hate about being able to ski everyday at a fairly legit place (or imo fairly legit) that's all I'm saying and yeah working sucks, but if you're going to school for it and you're a skier I don't see what's so bad. I'm maybe a bit naive, but I'm jealous of people who can ski everyday regardless of what it takes to be able to do it. I'd bus table all night and work two jobs during the summer once I get done with high school. I have worked at a resort as an instructor and yes management does suck and is generally uncooperative with doing more freestyle shit, the cat drivers are hit or miss, but I would love to ski killington everyday.

just wait till next year...
this was mt snow's first year with these parks, a learning year pretty much to try a lot of things out. and they still accomplished probably the best park in the east. i will bet $$ that next year mt snow will have a ton more creative features.

ey buddy easy,

they have black rails and boxes, its murdered out, it goes with the lift.

And they brought a all park mountain, with dfd boxes rainbow rails trap boxes, they'll have better stuff next year guarantee it, but the cat hit the really nice S-rail killing it. they also have sick jumps too and a pipe, dont hate on the dopest place to ski in the east IMO

dude, trust me, they realize this and it will hopefully be rectified next season. also blaming park crew for anything is retarded, all those dudes did all season was work their asses off to make sure shit was set up best as possible, 9 am to 4 pm everyday nov to april.

but yeah, rumor has it that C and S shaped obstacles will be available next year at the carinthia

I agree that MS has an unreal quantity of jibs, but not enough variety.  There were hardly any c-rails or boxes!?!?!?  And I also really missed wall rides.  I know there was one doghouse box at the bottom of grommet, but that hardly counts.  The huge one in un blanco gulch last year fell down last spring, but they ought to rebuild another one.  They also have a few narrow coping boxes that are practically rails.  urban downs like the camo one were amazing last year, and the down barrel rail at the top of Gulch was fun, but bring more of them back please.  It was a great first season, but I feel the park crew can step up the creativity. 
And cam was right up above, with people flying in from canada and the rockies, how can there have been such a small cash purse for the MS open?  Defiately did not reflect the level of skiing.

people are not getting it. The point this year was to spread the parks across carinthia get some new rails, and test out the idea of all park mountain face on the east.



They got multiple rail delveries throughout the year. You could ht so many rails in one run.

The whole this was a huge success, and i bet there gonna go all out for next year. Im sure there will be a better variety of jibs up.


But seriously, people are def taking what they had for granted. People were driving 3-4 hours, going past mountains that they had season passes to, to make it up to mount snow. They put in a ton o f fan guns, had some major contests, had inferno open to the public all year.

Im just saying stop whining, its gonna be way sicker next year, and most people would kill to have even close to the jibs they had up for thier home mountain.

just go have fun and stop dissing their efforts

i ride stratton normally and had to say i didnt like mt snow that much. the lifts were so shitty but who cares about that but carinthia was real fun casue it was super long. i feel like the quatliy of the things tho werent very good. the rails were not set up for skiers at all and some were very anoying to get on. also there was hardly any veriety. stratton is much more quality overall even tho it is shorter smaller parks

Haha to be perfectly honest, I'm not very good at rails but it was easy to get on pretty much every single rail or box they had, and I rode there 50ish days so I saw it all. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

are you kidding me?  the lifts were shitty, seriously, who cares and actually the carinthia express is fast and the double is super convenient and uncrowded.  the rails were not set up well?  maybe that's just because you're not good enough to ollie.  you can stay at the glamorous stratton with all the movie stars from NYC, while us real park skiers ski mount snow.

Thank god MS had ollie on. Ride on lips woulda drove me mad. I hope "for skiers" doesn't mean ollie on, cause that's just not a good trend to set for skiing's youth. Get out there and sesh with some snowboarders, they always build the best rail lips.

^ yeah, around the 20th of march, the park crew set up a round bar with absolutely NO LIP.  It was curved down at both ends, but you really needed a good pop to get on it.  if you don't like the few that are set up like that, just skip them.  there are certainly enough others to keep you busy.  Also, ride on boxes encourage gapers to 50/50 them and crowd up the park.  So pumped for next season too

yea stratton is my home mountain.  i do enjoy stratton's parks but they are just too short for the most part and the setup is always the same.  i would much rather ski at mount snow over stratton but saying that stratton doesn't have "real park skiers" is not cool

nahh cole i didn't mean like the locals there suck. what i mean is that stratton's just super expensive and wicked crowded. trust me though no hate there, stratton's parks are pretty sick. it's just that when that kid was hating on mount snow and stuff i meant like if he wants to go there fine and hate on mount snow fine. i just meant that all in all(no hate) i like mount snow more.
