Replying to The Sad State of this sites buy and sell.
As much as i didn't want to write this, i now feel compelled to.
What has happened to this sites buy and sell section? in the last month, i've tried to buy something and so have two of my friends off of three separate individuals. in all cases, we either never received the product, received something that wasn't at all what the description said, or wanted a refund because of failure to ship and the kid wouldn't refund in whole. i know that not all sellers are bad, but lately, we've had a 100% record of dealing with less than moral individuals.
I know many of you take a lot of pride in this site and it is a shame that buying and selling on newschoolers has become a laughing matter on other ski forums. i don't know how to fix this except for this: ITS NOT COOL TO RIP SOMEBODY OFF!. if one of your friends is a bad seller or you know someone who isn't honest, be the bigger person and tell them to stop.
I'll give summaries of our three transactions so you can kinda understand what i'm talking about. all names are made up for privacy. Transaction 1: Joe tries to buy a pair of fujatives off a seller who describes them as "perfect condition, mounted once, no base or edge damage". he then goes on to email joe a picture of the skis that either depicts the skis when he first bought them, or someone elses skis altogether. in reality, the skis joe received in the mail looked like they had been absolutely destroyed (major base damage, missing chunk in the rail, hack mounting job). the seller then denies it and says there is nothing he can do and the skis must have been damaged in the mail (?)! Transaction 2: Bob buys a jacket. pays the kid but the kid never ships it and seems to have disappeared off of the planet (any pennsylvania guys wanna check into this for him). Transaction 3: Billy buys a pair of goggles off a kid in canada, paypals him 100 dollars immediately and asks for them to be shipped out. a couple days later, he asks the kid if they've been shipped and the kid says "nope been working". fair enough everybody has to work but Billy has to move at the end of the month and having no confidence in this seller anymore asks for his money back. a week later the kid sends him 80 dollars and says "im keeping 20 because its the spring and i won't sell the goggles". umm billy paid him for them april 20th or so. its not like the season miraculously changed from winter to spring on the 21st!
My point, although very long winded, is that unless people begin to monitor themselves, buying gear on here won't even be considered by many and as a consequence, legit sellers won't be able to sell their gear. right now, newschoolers is probably the number one community in the world for freeskiers. lets keep it that way!
As for these bad sellers, if you want their names feel free to pm me. i don't know if its fair to start listing names in this thread.
lets get this forum back on the right track and make it a legitimate place to do business!
