FUCK WHATS WRONG WITH MY HARDDRIVE

so i have all the footage from the movie were making on this removable hard drive. i turned it on this morning i can hear it start to spin and then when it reaches a certain point it starts dying than trying to spin again. and it isnt recognized by anything

i have over 10 000 songs and all of our footage from this year on this thing....if its crashed i am gonna kill an infant...

worst case scenario, its busted and you can retrieve most of it from a computer hard drive recovery place

whats a place that can do that? i dont live in that big of a town. staples? circuit city?

fuck i am so pissed off right now ive had this thing for under a year no bumps or anything its just sat on my desk...

OK so i got it to run i just kept it on and after like 10 tries it kept spinning. im taking all the footage of there right now and then im gonna try to get my music but fuck...i dont have room for it all in the drive in my laptop.

fuck this sucks. im gonna be way to scarred to put anything on there now

triple post i know i dont give a fuck

so i have to leave and now windows wants to update and restart and i keep have to clicking restart later but its gonna take an hour to get all those files off

what do i do!

You don't have a backup drive!? That's absolutely crazy. Without a backup drive, there's a very good chance that you will lose all your stuff at some point down the road, if you haven't already. Hard drives usually work fine for a good amount of time, but there's always that chance that it will fail even if it's fairly new.

Here's what you do. Go out to Best Buy or wherever as soon as possible, and get another Hard drive or two to backup all your stuff on.

I had the same problem with my ipod. It would start spinning up and then click and stop spinning, then repeat. I think your issue is that the mechanism that spins the hard drive is slightly out of place (at least thats how the dude @ the apple store explained it). He opened up my ipod and moved it back and it worked fine. It should be fixable just find someone who knows a lot about that kind of shit and I'm sure they can take care of it for you

yeah i know i should have a backup. but i am poor and saving for a car and insurance and paying phone bills and payments on my laptop while working 1 day a week right now and then a bit for my dad.

i talked to some tech guy and he said exactly what you said that its probably just out of place and is a pretty easy fix. which is good haha! it started running after about 10 failed attempts so now im just saving all the footage on my laptops harddrive as a backup

i dont think im gonna be able to sleep for a while.

i dont have room for 40gb of footage on my laptop harddrive, anyone have any ideas where i could put that much without buying another external harddrive?

you can get 100 gig external for pretty damn cheap. My 120 gig was 70 bucks.

i got about 20. im going to whis next week and all my money is tied up in that.


anyone know if making an iso image of all the clips and burning it to a couple discs is a complete waste of time? i dont really know how that works but i could figure it out...

well its running right now...and i have to choose between buying a new drive or whis pretty much...

im definatly gonna be buying a new drive since this one is kinda like a ticking bomb now haha but i think im gonna try and push it. i havent skied (except for riding around lightly) for 3 months due to an injury im going nuts

You can burn the image files onto DVDs. At least that is what my cousin did for a lot of our footage from this year. PM Powdered_Donuts about it on here.

i mean just try to upload to any website you can. hell just upload it all to NS to the private area. ha. just make everything zip files and have all your friends bring over flash drives and put it on there and transfer shit to other computers on your network assuming you have one. i had the same problem and almost killed myself. now i have 2 HDs, one for backup and one for use

haha yeah thats exactly what i did. my friend came over and we just transferred all the footage to his external drive.

so this one is running again now...but if it crashes anytime soon il still have all the footage for our movie on his at least haha.

I've got an 80 gig external that you could have for cheap.

Its got 40 gigs of brazzers porno on it too, which you can do whatever you want with.
