NS why do you like OBAMA?......No Canadians allowed.
no. you open your eyes and think logically. it may be right, but the fact of the matter is, you cannot prove it. it is impossible. so please, stop with the stupid voting bullshit. its pointless anecdotal crap.
there are people who need big trucks no doubt. im talking about every blowhard i see in the city driving a hummer and or escalade that they by no means need.
because He is the first president in ages that isnt a complete fucking idiot. It was the only choice. McCain was a joke. Just like every other republican pres so far
yes, they are still fucked over... yet i get called a Jap and nothing happens to them and i call them a n***er and BAM!!!! suspension.. wtf? fuck them.
STILL FUCKED OVER!? they have soo many programs and shit that make them have advantages over white ppl, minorities have it easier to get into school, they have scholarships , that if ur X minority u can apply for a scholarship, white ppl dont have those scholarships that are only for white ppl, affirmative action is such bullshit nowadays, it was good for the first 20-30 years but now its really unecessary i feel
Gluttony and excess may not be great, and harmful in some instances, but a logic like this is EXACTLY why I don't like Obama. People may not need the gas guzzles, but it shouldn't be the role of the government to determine if it is or not, what vehicle a person can buy, or to mandate that a manufacturer create a product that the government wants, but the consumer does not.
The incentive is in the market. If people want a slick hybrid, they will buy it. Fuck knows I've seen plenty of prius and smart cars and the like in recent years in the Seattle area, or bicyclists for that matter. When gas spiked way the hell up last summer, people were ditching the SUVs and monster v10+ trucks for more efficient shit. That is where the incentive lies.
and would it hurt you to shut the fuck up?- you act so fucking pious in recent political threads (or cultural ones), but your incessant blather is exceedingly annoying.
where did i say the government should mandate it? i just said that by spreading this "hybrids are inefficient to make" crap, people wont buy them, therefore they will continue to be inefficient. its an endless circle. what we need is people to realize the stupidity. thats why i hope gas gets expensive as fuck, sadly people dont give a shit about the environment, but they do give a shit about their money.
as for staying out, you dont like it, dont read it. ill post what i want, where i want.
well i am, he has a point. I am Half Japanese (my mom was born and raised in Hiroshima) and my dad is the son of Eastern European political refugees (Czech and Romanian)... BUT, because my dad isnt first generation or whatever... i get JACK SHIT in terms of scholarships or anything else. however, black people whose families have been living in the US since the Civil war still get more oppurtunities for scholarships and such. and a lot of time many of the "African American" scholarships go unused... its really annoying to see so much scholarship money set aside for people that dont use it and dont have an appreciation for it cause there one goal in life is to be a drug dealer.
i realize that was somewhat stereotyped but midterms, plus the chance i may not be able to pay for school next year is really getting to me.
I think it's a perfectly reasonable assumption that a large portion of the black electorate voted for Obama because of the color of his skin. The increase in black voter turnout/registration definitely suggests a strong correlation.
That being said, why is that important/bad? The vast majority of voters are grossly uninformed about not only the specifics of a given candidate's policy proposals/voting record, but about the mechanics of our government itself. If you want proof, look no further than midterm election voter turnout. Anyone who is even moderately engaged politically, knows that their day to day lives are affected infinitely more directly by their home state senators, reps., and even further localized politicians; and yet the voter turnout in non-presidential elections is under 40%.
People vote for all sorts of arbitrary reasons. I'd venture that a comparable number of people automatically voted
for John McCain because he's not black (relative to the blacks that
voted for Obama)...maybe more. After all, I think blacks only make up
around 13% of the population.
I don't have numbers, but extensive studies have concluded that a candidate's physical attractiveness is every bit as important as any other factor in terms of electability. If you believe that the average person really votes on issues, OR even in their own self-interest, you're kidding yourself. Save the people on the way left and way right, the candidates from the 2 big parties have way more in common, than not. Reason being, it's impossible for a candidate that has "radical" views to get elected here...the American public is incredibly centric. Unfortunately, the media would have you believe that the country is horribly divided with Limbaugh fans on the right and Olberman fans on the left.
The implication that Obama was elected because a bunch of ill-informed voters came out of the woodwork and voted him into office is a fucking joke. Well, in so much that you could make the same exact argument every election. Obama was elected because George Bush's approval ratings were the lowest in history, and the economy had stalled. The lame duck president's party always takes a bath when the economy is in the toilet. Any Democratic nominee was going to win...for better or worse.
If nothing else, we should all be pumped and united on one issue: Politicians are going to have to start paying attention to young people. We showed up and voted in 2008, and if we continue to do so, you're going to see a monumental shift.
the scholarship thing sucks, it does. and in a lot of states and schools you would get the scholarship. a ton of it also depends on the school/state your in as well.
not only did he go to a school AFTER high school he also went to a military academy.. you need a recommendation from your districts Congress person in order to even be CONSIDERED for admission... basically, you have to be the best of the best. and with that most people that go to academy go to stay in the military for 20 years or more so they get a pension.... my dad was only in for 4 because he was in vietnam for all 4... and he wanted out. so its assumed by the computers that i would be getting help from his pension... which im not.
im half italian, my mom was born and rasied there, i as well have a dual citizenship for the united states and italy, i get jack shit for any of that also, i guess italians arent minorities so whatever
1st of all: Obama spent trillions on economic stimulus, which has begun to work
Bush spent substanitally more on a COMPLETELY useless war based on false information, which has killed over 80,000 innocent iraqi civilians, thousands of US troops, and done the impossible: fucked up Iraq more than it already was
2nd: Guantanamo violated nearly every aspect of this country's belief and our very foundation: holding people indefinately without charge or trial on a Cuban base....oh but I forgot, water boarding isn't tortue huh?
You violated at least 2 rules in this thread:
no children
NO IDIOTS
were italians enslaved for hundreds of years, followed by a hundred years of blatant legalized racism, followed by the institutionalized racism that still exists today? didnt think so.
japanese, hispanics, blacks, native americans above all, they faced discrimination, still do today. you? not so much.
institutionalized racism that still exists today? i think thats kinda pushing it man.
and to the italian thing... yes you could be considered a minority but to be honest i really think that it doesnt fit as much because to be honest you were some of the first people out here with all the other europeans... and basically ran the eastern seaboard from the 1920s to the 1960s almost.
not by any means. racism is by no means dead. and im not talking about your average grumpy old white guy down south. im talking in terms of hiring, the prison systems, drug laws etc.
ive read somewhere that the batteries they put into the prius absolutely rapes the planet.
but that being said i have no qualm with Hybrids i dont plan to drive one any time soon. but if there is a market for them, i have no problem with companies producing them. if people want to drive a little death box than go ahead. at the same time if someone wants to drive their escalade more power to ya.
same with ethanol if the government wasnt propping it up and it was actually a little efficient etc i couldnt give 2 shits what you fill your tank with.
ive gotta say to people who go "o you're such a bad person for driving that big SUV, you dont need it, you should be driving a car" have you ever ridden in a BIG SUV? have you ever owned one? they are damn compfortable rides. and can most definitly serve a purpose.
if you can afford to drive that 50k SUV think of it this way, you are doing a good thing by buying it, because you are helping the little guy who put your car together. trickle down economics. speaking of the rich spending money and that directly corrilating to "little guy" jobs. if you dont beleive me, go read up on the first Bush's war on yachts. he single handedly desimated an entire industry.
now maybe you can run the numbers but i thought Obama has spent WAY more money than anyone in history. keep in mind his federal budget is over 3T this year.
ide also love for you to explain to me how his stimulus has begun to work. im all ears.
I dont like obama his decision to come in and take control of companies such as Crystler is crap. That is what got our economy into trouble in the first place; government coming into businesses and taking over
dude... you sir, are a douche... and im not an obama supporter.
seriously, i dont know if i should be more scared that you cant spell Chrysler.... or that you think that government coming into businesses is what fucked us over.
