Question for those who ski powder

I will be going to school in utah and will own my very first pair of pow skis. Ive done my time on the east coast now im outta here. Getting a pair of surface live life 2's and i cant decide what bindings to get. Light and durable is what im lookin for.

Choices: jesters, fks 155, PX 15 or STH 16

looking for imput on any of these bindings that would be best for a fat ski, pros v. cons etc

Only one iv skied of that list is the jester, which has a pretty decent approval rate on ns. I haven't had any problems with em, theyv popped off when they absolutely need to, but no prerelease.

Two I can comment on:

FKS 155
Pros: Amazing binding, never pre-release and are bombproof. I use these on my park skis.
Cons: Very hard to find new, expensive, I've also heard that they can rip out of powder skis because of the narrow mounting pattern. I personally consider these more of a park ski binding.

Jesters
Pros: Great binding as well in my opinion although not as good as the FKS. Wider mounting pattern that fits well onto powder skis. Very lightweight and come with wider brakes which eliminate the need to bend. I use these on my JJs.
Cons: Kind of plasticy, some people I know have had them pre-release when stomping hard landing switch in the park, expensive.

i would go with jesters. the px are heavy and i dont like Solomon bindings. if you shop around you can find jesters for much lower than their msrp (mthoodalpineracingcenter 220)

I mount fks 155 or 185 on all my pow skis.

the only problem ive ever had was a heelpiece ripping out of my hellbents.  Other then that, they have been 100% perfect.

jesters are like having sex with your ski, and they are so dope for fat skis...

seriously i have them mounted on a pair thats 136 underfoot and they rock, you can actually feel the difference because of the wide mounting pattern

i would suggest rossy bindings.. i use those on my pow skis and love em. Ive heard good things about the jesters too tho

You cant go wrong with any of those bindings. The downsidse to the fks155s is that bending the brakes is a hassle, and if you break an arm, you cant easily replace them. I loved my jesters, I currently have px15s on my eps and love those, although they are heavy. The sth16s are great too.

they dont actually have a wide mountin pattern, the plastic extends further to the sides, but the screws are pretty much the same as rossies.

Yeah jesters and fks are the way too go. depending on the core of your ski, you might have to heil coil the fks, from the start due to the tight heel pattern, but you really can't go wrong with all of those.

I have STH16's on my Live Life 2's, and i have never had a problem with them. They dont rip out, dont prerelease, come with widebrakes, and are super bomber all around.

FKS or STH 16 (Don't get the 14), fks is what I ride, i weigh 200lbs and have never had any problems with pre-release.  Have skide the STH 16 and liked em', the driver toe piece is the shit.

Its got more plastic in it and the toe is the crappy design, not the driver toe in the 16's

with the dins cranked to 10 I can still spread the wings with my fingers, sounds like a sloppy binder that's gonna be prone to pre-release to me. A couple of my buddies proformed them and had terrible problems w/ pre-release on pow landings.

To the OP I would go with some STH 16s or FKS if you want a truly time tested binding.

i have sth 16's on my motherships and ep pros.  they're awesome.  they have not prereleased one single time but they fall off when they have to (set at 14). 

 i had some fks 185 bindings on my blends this past season and they ripped out right away.  fks are sick (as far as holding on when they need to and releasing when they need to), but make sure your skis have metal in them or are narrow.  also, there is a lot to be said about the brake issue, bending and replacing broken brakes, that has already been mentioned in this thread. 

the jesters are sick, but they're more expensive than the salomon and i honestly can't think of a single thing that makes them any better than the salomons.  i am obsessed with my sth 16's and will be putting them on everything from here on out (except for one pair of dukes next winter).

fks bindings are the only bindings I haven't either snapped or pre-released out of.
