i hope crosby does something to piss ovechekin off and get him to try and fight crosby and watch a wingman or defenseman come over and knock his shit in..... i HATE ovechkin. im all for a celebration after a goal, but jesus christ.
Gary Bettman has been beating off to this playoff matchup for months. Everyone needs to take their tampons out and get over the Croby/Olvechkin Soap Opera. Last time i checked neither one was the leading point scorer this season nor is leading the playoffs in points or goals. Both players are amazing. But their styles are totally different. When Olvechkin has the puck his brain is thinking shoot. Crosby is thinking pass.
The biggest problem the pens have right now is their powerplay. They have to capitalize (no pun intended) on the powerplay much more than they did in the Flyers series if they want to win this round. But then again neither team in that series was effective on the powerplay. That series was a mismatch of teams, in the sense that the Pens wanted to play a faster finesse game, while the flyers were playing a stronger checking game. This should be a more interesting matchup in that regard.
In the goaltending category, Varlamov technically has better post-season stats than Fleury. But he's going to be facing the much better offense of the Penguins. And will be facing (on average) 10 more shots per game. In my opinion Caps defense is also a little lacking. Should be a good series though.
The caps struggled with Lundqvist. NY only won the games in which he played out of his fucking mind. The caps would have dominated that series otherwise.
I see the caps winning this series, especially if Varlamov can continue his solid play.
Congratulations. That was the point I was trying to make... ...i never once mentioned Malkin. And neither does NHL/TSN/ESPN/NBC/VERSUS. Malkin is just as good as Crosby and Olvechkin and he is never mentioned. Read what I said again... the point Im making is that Malkin is the Art Ross trophy winner. And currently leading the playoffs in points, and 2nd in goals. But for some reason everyone has their heads up Olvechkin and Croby's collective asses.
Yea jesus christ there is 2 guys in the playoff thread who do this all the time. Like 4 paragraph responses to why a team will win and why and why the other team will lose. "Well according to my calcuations the _____s took 0.0042 more shots in the last 4 minutes of the 2nd periods in round 1, thus their pp will be better against the _____'s because their defensemen have 2 broken fingers throughout their line ups"
o shit i read it wrong haha, ya i totaly agree though malkin is so underrated because crosby and im a pens fan. i honestly think malkin is better than crosby but crosby is still a better skater
haha I'm a Pen's fan. But I've been playing hockey long enough, and just a fan of the sport in general, that I'm able to put my homer attitude to the side a little and do an unbiased analysis. I'd fucking kill for TSN here in the states. Hockey is 4th string to Football, Baseball, and Basketball.
Game 1 might have been one of the most exciting games of the playoffs. So many fucking odd-man breaks. Fluery and Varlamov are both looking inconsistent so far.
Pens gotta get their powerplay together. Haven't scored a pp goal in like 30 chances. Any team watching game films knows that the half-trap sort of thing where the team stacks their defenders across the blueline, and forces the dump, is devastating to the pens powerplay. The Pens are losing battles down low, and are forced to send in all 3 forwards, normally leaving somebody open for an easy clear.
Personally, I'd split up Crosby and Malkin on 2 different units. And pair them with at least one fast grinder. Crosby and Malkin can quarterback the pp fine on their own, they just need some guys to win some battles down low and keep possession. Sykora and Guerin are looking kinda slow, and their age is showing. My PP units would be...
#1
Crosby
Kunitz
Dupis
Gonchar
Orpik
#2
Malkin
Kennedy
Staal
Letang
Eaton
Lets be serious... it couldn't get any worse... 0/30 on the PP?
i think it was a pretty even game, i would even say the pens may have played a little better. lord valdamort made the save of his life to keep that game from being tied. should be another good one tonight!
Crosby was asked about Oveckin's hat trick tonight, his response.
'"People
kept throwing hats," Sidney Crosby said tonight. "I was just asking if
he could make an announcement to ask them to stop. I mean, the first
wave came and then I think they were all pretty much picked up, and
then more started coming. So for us, we just wanted to make sure we
kept kind of moving and kept the game going, wanted to try to get back
in it. So wasn't complaining about anything."
what a crybaby. way to complain about one of the greatest hockey traditions. he was probably just pissed that he only got one hat thrown on the ice for him. and it was a pity hat
Game 2 might have been one of the worst officiated games in a long time. On both sides. So many phantom calls, and generally weak calls. And calls that were blatantly obvious were not called. I have no idea how the Pens got a powerplay out of that Orpik facewash behind the net, nor was Guerin's ridiculous slash on Semin called. And some how Clark interferred with Crosby on the boards at the begining of the 3rd? But on the other side... Ovechkin has scored goals in both games that was a result of interference of forward covering the left point. Staal was picked in game 1in the high slot, and Semin tripped Cooke as he was sliding over to cover the point.
Malkin is like in ghost mode right now. The leagues art ross trophy winner has had only 2 assists in the first 2 games. He makes an appearance in 1 good shift. Theres no way the Pens can get back into this series if he doesn't show up for game 3 and start taking more shots. And seriously the pens need to have their douchers, Cooke, Kunitz and Talbot shadowing Ovechkin all game. Leaving a guy open all the time that takes 40% of a teams shots is damn near retarded.
i really think malkin might be like hurt or something, he just doesnt seem himself. ya that ovechkin goal during that power play was fucking bullshit cooke would have been right in front of him but he was blatantly tripped.
