Why should we have pulled out of Iraq earlier

IM doing a report on the Iraqi war and need your opinions and arguments as to why we should have pulled out of iraq sooner than later.

Please, try not to be ignorant or emotional in your posts. I want to see some legit, well thought out arguments from sources other than CNN.

Oh, and keep it simple so im not tempted to just copy and paste on my essay haha.

Why? I havent looked into this too deeply and I have a lot of military friends so I am neutral so I was getting your thoughts since the media doesnt do justice.

i can kinda see the argument from both sides, basically pulling out early (that's what your dad should've done...no hate...i just had to say it...lololol) would've saved american and iraqui lives but the downside to that is we would've not finished what we started

now i'm not sure which way would've left the country in better shape, basically we ruined the country by invading, not that it was fucked up before, so i'm not sure if it was worse before or after we invaded, but either way it was like destroying a house with the purpose of re-building it and if we'd pulled out it would've just been like leaving the house unfinished. now, after several years and lots and lots of money, the house remains unfinished and we're stuck in a hole. so basically the argument could be we need even more time to finish what we started or we should've just ditched it earlier to save money and lives

Word on the street is you(america) spend around half a billion dollars a day on that shit. The other thing is, and i could be wrong on this one, aren't the terrorists your looking for hiding in another country? Also on the whole nothing has been accomplished anywhere in the middle east they are still cavemen compared to modern day countries. For example they recently passed a law forcing women to have sex every 4 days punishable by emprisonment, it is also illegal for women to leave the house without the husbands permission. So yeah in conclusion it was a gigantic waste of time, money, effort and lives.

Yea that rumor is true. BUt if you think about it, WWII cost 5 trillion for a four yearwar and this has been like 7 years.

Yea the terrorisits are in other countries, like bin ladens crew. But there is a huge amount of Al Qaeda douches still mobbin their ak's in baghdad.

As far as the weird laws, i think those all relate to their insanely Islamic customs, not a hip government

i am a republican, and was a supporter of going into iraq at the beginning...  but for the most part, we should have pulled out shortly after saddam was captured.  im tired of seeing people and friends of mine go over there and get shot and hurt...  plus it is really fucking the rest of the worlds opinion of us.

we need to stay but just long enough for us to come up with a viable "escape" that would make everyone happy, and by happy i mean at peace.  If we uproot and run like everyone is telling us to do then we are just going to have more deaths, and if you think only American Soldiers lives matter, than you are wrong
We went in for a reason, it may not have been a very good one due to lack of research in the Oval Office's part (Th Qur'an specifically tells muslims to attack invaders and infedels) but we need to fix this with a limited amount of damage

well, what is there to elaborate on really?  i mean, england now hates us (in no small part to the type of gifts Obama gave them but thats another story) and they have generally been one of our biggest supporters, i think canada is kinda in the same boat...  and a fair portion of my family in japan is laughing at us for who we voted in and how no matter what we say we are going to be in iraq for a long time.

But I think US should never have been in Iraq to begin with, but they can't just pull out and leave Iraq high and dry.

Well to start off, obviously they should never have invaded Iraq in the first place... but there are a few reasons why it is important that they stick around awhile longer. One reason is that if they enter a confilct and pull out quickly do to things like they are losing soldiers and cost that display a weakness to the rest of the world and it sends a weak image which is unacceptable for the world power to do if they wish to maintain that status as other countries will take advantage of this. Another reason is that if they were to pull out now they would be leaving Iraq in pretty much complete anarchy and seeing as how they caused this they should attempt to fix it, but on the flipside the problems they are facing now are ideological and may not be fixable anytime in the near future and possible solutions probably aren't really conducive to the form of democracy that the US wanted to put into place (which was one of the points of the war), given the area that it is in. Obviously Bush and his administration did not do their homework before invading Iraq because all of the problems they now face were easily predictable... Bush wanted to be remembered and it looks like he will.

yes so that means that 5 trillion back then is like 25 trillion now.

car back then=grand; car now=20 grand. so it probably way more then 25 trillion.

Obviously WWII was longer than 4 years... but i think he was talking about the american involvement in wwii.  If you're talking about how much the united states spent on WWII, why would other countries involvement in the war be relevant in any way? 

Also, the Canadians didn't burn down the White House... that was the British.  Canada wasn't a country with a standing army until about 50 years later.  Also, did you get your information about the war of 1812 from a song?  I think by the Arrogant Worms?  Nice try.
