Hows UVM?

im lookin at applying to burlington this winter. id like to get feedback on anyone whose there already.

so how is/are...

classes, dorms, skiing (ice), food, parties/stuff to do, and girls.

also how is ski stuff like passes, getting to hill, club/team any of that

goin to UVM next year...looking ta be a sick yeaaarrr!!! already got my triple major which gets you a pass to Bolton, mad River, and Jay peak...for only 269!!

haha i was just there today. campus is amazing, ski deals are....ok but its very very close to stowe smuggs and sugarbush. and somewhat close to killington.  apparently its tough but i dunno. i met people there who skied 4 days a week no problem.  ski and board club has like 1900 people and they plan these super dope trips out west for spring break.  plus somehow they get mad cheap gear.  there building this huge fucking building for dirt....and plants...what.

Join the UVM Ski and Snowboard Club! You save even more money on season passes, get free transportation to the mountain, lots of cool trips national and international, etc, etc

uvm is sick. some classes are hard, some aren't. some departments are good, others aren't. just like any school, it depends what you're studying.

its always a good time, though.

definitely find a roommate before hand if youre scared about being in a triple, but it still wont get you in your desired dorm necessarily.

and to the other guy who doesnt want to be on trinity.... dont worry about it. trinity is far (actually closer than redstone). its not quite as tight of a community as redstone or central or athletic, but it is really fun. some good friends this year lived their last year and they loved it and wouldnt change it. same with my friends from jeanne mance. not as bad as you would think. plus youre close to town

personally, i did less skiing here than ever in high school , picked up a lot of bad habits but it can be amazing a lot of days in the spring and fall, lake champlain has beautiful sunsets all the time, police are super gay here fuck them all , dorms are really ghetto minus a couple new ones, everything is overpriced, both on and off campus food options get very old after a while, theres defintely lots of whack kids but plenty of real chill ones too, too many kids who like just discovered smoking weed and try way too hard to be groovyy UV stonersz, some real sick handrails but bust factor is usually high , overall burlington is a pretty ill town as far as small east coast goes . but i dont know if i would wana stay here for 4 years to be honest. there are so many way sicker places to live/go to school in the united states if you have the means.but i think the size is nice cause its small enough where you pretty much are always running into someone you know but not small like st mikes which i've heard is a pretty terrible/beat choice to make for a college experience.it seems like the kids i know who go there are... kinda special.

but anyways, the thing that pisses me off the most is parking. i dont even want to get started on parking and driving around here. I have gone through so much shit in the last year its unreal. The roads and the way things are layed out is straight up retarded. Like some of hte intersections with multiple lights within 10 feet of each oth and do not enters, 10 stop signs in a row when there could be 2, pointless one ways and arrows pointing 'straight only' when if you actually go 'straight only' you would crash straight into on coming traffic... . I have lived nearly right in metropolitan boston for the last 17 years and NEVER have i seen parking patrols, gotten into accidents, or dealt with parking enforecement like this

what needs to happen is a boulder CO style jibpark open 24/7 . so many kids ski or snowboard it just makes sense... i feel like the town could easily raise money for that

overal as far as the east coast goes, i wouldn't wana go anywhere else

yea some of this is truth. parking and transportation is whack. Ive gotten 3 tickets and i have a parking pass. Really rediculous.

Ski and snowboard club has been trying to get a jib park for the last 5 years but the University will not go for it which is complete bullshit considering they have 1million athletic fields and there are still probably more skiers/riders than varsity athletes.

i did get the most days of my liife this season (65 i think) with a full class load. you just gotta know how to drive morning after drunk

Not really. UVM is just like any other large state school...... lots of jocks/meatheads, douchebags, rich snotty girls, hippies, and normal people.

Sorry to stereotype everyone..... but its not much different than any other college. Maybe a few more kids with dreads and a higher prevalence of drugs but hey who's complaining?

Hey guys,

For the most part I agree with Adrian... but here's my opinion on a lot of viewpoints.

Freshman Parking: I've had my car up here since October, i think, and have never gotten a ticket. I just parked my park on college St or Uplace. A lot of people park their cars at the sheraton. However, when e.will was watching my car the last few weeks, he managed to get it towed and a few tickets. Honestly, it is not hard to have a car up here and have nothing happen to it. You just need to be smart about it and look at the signs before you decide to park.

Housing: A kid and I requested to be roomates but we both got split up and tripled. It was pure BS. Within in a few weeks, one of my roomates moved out and the one I have no isn't bad. I think it is actually easier to room with a non-skier.To the person who wanted to ask for a rom in the Harrimill. You will get what you get. You really don't have a choice unless you're programmed.

Skiing: I am kind of bummed. I didn't ski anywhere as near as much as I did last year. Jay is well over an hour away and stowe is like 45 minutes. The passes are the trip major (jay, MRG, Bolton), Stowe, or Sugarbush. I went stowe this year but I really didn't really like it. I don't know what I'll do next year.

SSC: I didn't join. I don't feel like I missed anything either. I see everyone and their mother wearing SSC shirts every day. It really doesn't mean anything. If you want to be part of a tight knit park group join FST.

Life: SO many fake hippis and fat sorority girls. I really don't like greek life in general. I have friends in frats and sororities but they are just buying in to party. Seriously, the best parties I've been to have been house parties.And i don't really like to party that much during ski season. Think about why you are in school. I am here to learn and I love to ski. I don't feel like I have to party 24/7 and try to still do well in school and ski. You will burn yourself out. I've spent a lot of days where i've woken up early to ski, hit the subway, and drove home at 1 or 2.

meh, i'll add more when i see shit that I missed.

That's your opinion and I disagree with a lot you've said. It's a different experience for everyone but 99% of the people I know love being in Burlington... not necessarily UVM, but love Vermont.

you cant choose wehre you want to live anymore, they stopped doing that 2 years ago when my sister was a freshman. You can only choose single , double, triple, suit i think.
