Customizing My Shoes

I have this pair of shoes that I havnt worn yet because theyre to plain and boring for my liking( black and white) so i want to customize them. Im not going full out with paint and shit, most likely just sharpie. Im pretty artistic so thats not the problem, i just cant figure out what to put on them. Im not doing anything crazy just plain simplee and frrressshhh.

WHat should i put on them?

i couldnt find a picture of the exact shoes but they look more or less like this

maybe some sort of Pollard art-work-esque trees and vines?

yea that would look sick actually i love his work..

another question, does anyone have experience with this? if so say if id want to filll in a big area with one color would sharpie still work?

i don't think you really have any other choice to be honest man. You could go to a craft store and look for fabric markers but like...those aren't usually for leather. Plus if you sharpied over top of that it'd be funky

Sharpies will fade and doing big areas is hard because it will come out streaky.  There are a bunch of different websites that go over different methods. 

1) Sharpie-good for detail and just fucking around---BAD-fade, cant do big areas

2) Painting-you must rub down the shoes with a sponge and some acetone to get the waxy layer off for the paint to bond, Then mix acrylic paint with acetone and go to town.  Here is a site with a lot of info. http://www.sneakerfreaker.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=7262

yea thats what i was worried about ( streakyness) And the reason i didnt want to paint was because off having to rub down the sneakers and stuff.

deco paint markers...

buy or extendedly borrow from michaels or any craft store.

They will work perfect and never ever fade or rub off.

sharpie will fade in days. trust me. leather dye + masking tape can do you good if the design is not too elaborate. if you just want to freehand something use a krink pen, that would be sick. so would an ordinary paint pen but it won't last as long. but really canvas shoes like most vans and converses would be a lot easier to work with. good luck!

yea thats what i was thinking. Anyone have any more suggestions as to what to put on these shoes in terms of design.

And ispainting over the black duable??
