Not sure how many people have heard this but evidently MF DOOM sent an imposter to perform as himself at a show. He addresses the issue (in)directly in this interview.
He seems to be trying to walk the line between hype over being a famous rapper opposed to hype over what he is famous for. I don't quite know what to think, especially since he was one of the most inimitable voices and is in a sub-genre that he created and dominates. I think it's more impressive to see rapper spitting his own material rather than some look-alike who has his blessings. To put it in perspective, I see it on the same level as Badfish (Sublime tribute) being touted as Sublime simply because they are performing Sublime's material. I guess I'll have to wait and see how the future pans out. Thoughts?
