Thinking about moving to LA

So I'm prob going to make a move to LA pretty soon here. Are there any legit moutains about a hour drive away? I'm coming from the PNW, and the closet hill is about a hour away. Looking for a little more culture than Seattle has to offer. Is mammoth the only legit mountain in the SoCal area?

I wouldnt really say mammoth is "SoCal"
but yea, Mt. High or Bear Mountain are your two best bets. Depends where you're living, but Mt. High is like 45/hour and bear is iffy on time cause of traffic. idk i live on the central coast so I dont know the times super well.

Mammoth is literally no closer to LA than it is from Sacramento... its just Tahoe is closer to SF and Sac, and so people dont have a need to go another 3 hours south to mammoth... in that sense, I agree... Mammoth is no more SoCal than it is NorCal.
buttt yeah.. if you don't mind shlepping it for 5-6 hours up to mammoth every weekend, be my guest.

Mt High, Bear Mt, Snow Summit, Snow Valley and Mt Baldy, all within 2 hours of LA. I think theres another tiny resort or two as well, but nothing I've been to.
Mammoth is 5 hours (4 and a half if you keep it at 80mph), but its a really chill drive. Lots of dank places to eat and whatnot out there in the desert.
As for living here its pretty much chill as long as your into cruising around in your car and just wandering around high as fuck in like 90 degree weather wearing sunglasses. If you don't smoke weed or like the heat or the beach then its probably not worth it. And remember in the middle of the summer there's about 2 weeks where it'll just straight be 100 degrees the entire time. Its pretty relaxed though and the night life is pretty crazy.

lol didn't really answer your questions. Mt high is an hour away and its pretty small, don't get amazing snow, but the entire mountain is a park and they have a lot of awesome boxes and creative features there.
Bear/Snow Summit are 2 hours away, and right next to each other. Your pass is good at both mountains and you can take a bus between the two. Both have legit parks, especially bear. Pretty big resorts and they get good snow.
Snow Valley is kindof shitty (worth the extra 20 minutes to bear), and Baldy for years only had one lift, but now they have 5 and a pretty legit little park going apparently. Baldy is only like 30-45min's away and lift tickets are only $25 or something.
Then theres Mammoth/June.
All times are Eastern (-5)
