I recently bought a new macbook about a month ago after somebody stepped on my old MB pro. I didn't really think about it at the time, but the new mac doesn't have firewire, which sucks because I can't use my camera with it (HV30). This is the top of the line macbook with 2.4GHz and 4GB ram. It also has final cut express 4 installed on it. I'm looking for an old macbook pro or 1500 (enough for a refurbished one).

Hate to say it, but you could just get a firewire to usb converter cable

pointless. it wouldn't transfer at the speed firewire does, it would just make it a usb cable

firewire and usb 2 have the same tranfer speed .. no?

I looked into converter cables and even the firewire through ethernet is a joke. And because of the new design, you can't replace the USB with firewire.
