Reflections on the 08-09 Season

As the 08-09 season has come to an end

i thought we should reflect on the BEST ans WORST parts of the season

my best part was probably my winter break

we hit a bunch of BC jumps and filming was super good

the worst part was definatley when spring break came around and we accidentaly taped over the majority of all our stuff during winter break :(

Best : learning lots of new stuff in the park, more comfortable with spins and rails.  experimenting with editting, getting photo and video footage.  Getting pow and park skis.  And a few super deep powder days.  First half of the season was fantastic for the east.  Triple- header storm right before christmas anyone?  14" every morning, just dreamy

worst : the second half of the season was the dryest in memory for the EC.  And my first knee injury which spooks me for my longterm health, and obviously being a season ender.  still can't believe it's over.

Best: Spun off jumps that were a lot bigger.

Worst: Didnt learn to much new stuff on jumps.(but im goin to water ramps this summer, YAY)

Best: Improved a shit ton, since this is my first real season skiing park (even though I've been skiing for 15 years). Stomped my first 3's, became comfortable with almost any rail. I got a job on park crew (sick... got paid to ski!), Got Full Tilts- and it's true. Stomping cliff's on a 1.5 ft east coast pow day, smokin weed on the ganjala, Finding new secret stashes. And  many more.

Worst? I can't really think of too much. Maybe the shinbang I got before I got Full tilts haha. Or the 1 week period where we got a lot of snow and I couldn't ski because I was waiting on my bindings to come in the mail.

ouch, that's a long list of injuries.  Makes me grateful that mine didn't require surgery.   And I forgot defianately a season highlight, let alone a ski career highlight, which was my first landed backflip.  Landed it and... skigasm!

BEST- skied alot with my friends, had fun, learned new stuff almost everyday

WORST - 7 months till next season, wasnt a particularly great snow year

Best - skiing with the homies nearly every day of the week, learning a couple new things, having an all around good time.

Worst - first major injury, torn meniscus in january that sort of side lined me.

Best: had fun every day I got to go out.

Worst: I skied maybe 15-20 days because I broke 2 pairs of bindings, delammed a ski underfoot while ripping the heelpiece out, and got injured in november and had surgery (shoulder) in december, effectively missing most of the season.  Thank god I still have Abasin to look forward to, I just gotta find some skis with bindings that won't break...

Best: got way better, skied Brider Bowl Powder, learned so moch on rails twos on and off and switch ups, Learned new flips, afraid of spinning park jumps to landing a nine, and best of all the figuring out the new schlasmans lift
Worst: overshooting/overotating a nine and breaking my ankles (pulled the Tanner Hall scream for shits and giggles b4 realizing my ankle was actually broken) /end rant of claiming

best: stomping a backflip off a cliff that destroyed me last year but now on my new pow skis!

worst: a couple of failure sessions with just all around bad vibes.

overall it was a great season though and I progressed a lot. didn't get to build a legit BC jump though which sucks,

best: just having fun with my friends skiing the park and having fun. skiing the spring snow for a few weekends. skiing pow for one or two weekends.

worst: by far would be my broken tibia and fibia season ender especailly since it was on the day where i had the most fun.

best: pow day where I spent all morning banging off drops like I was on a mission, guinie pig the new big jump in the park (first big jump of the year) in the afternoon.

worst: when my JJ's broke the second time this season. I felt like crying... but I'm a man, so I just got drunk instead.

best: landing a front flip the last day of the season, and spring break in california (im from wisconsin)

worst: my best friend who ive basically skied everyday of the last like 5 seasons with, quit snowboarding, resulting in me learning hardly anythign new this season

One of the best: We went to Bolton Valley and found out that the lifts were closed on wind hold. We searched and we found a 20' colvert and a patch of soft snow. We sessioned it for hours. Also, my good friend came up to ski and he was with us.

Worst: It rained in Vermont like every month

Footage of one skier that myself and another friend filmed. Not gonna go into details just yet.

We got some footage of me skiing, but need a little more for my segment. Gonna try to get stuff aired weekly next season.

first time I delamed a ski while sliding some boxes, got that shit warrantee'd. second time, I went for a nose stand (or whatever the proper name for it is - nose block? whatever) and my binding ripped out taking some of the top sheet with it.

sucked for sure.

best: got to go to Utah for the first time and a whole new world of skiing opened up for me
worst: three days after I got back and was stoked on skiing more that ever, I blew my knee....hey at least I got to go to Utah :)

best: lived with my friend in blue mountain during january and skiied powder, was so sick
worst: the last day i skiied (in march) , i did so bad, couldnt land shit.

all together this season was sick and i hope next year will be even better.

My season was perfecto!! Nothing bad happened at all.

It was the first season i got to ski every weekend and it was basically the time of my life so far, and i am stoked to see how next year plays out

best = first 7, skiing park lots, and all the pow days late in the season... and pretzels and polish donuts at snoqualmie pass (home mt.) super sick, and first skier only comp there

worst = any time i had to miss skiing for hw (fuck ap classes) and my friends were at the mt

gonna have some hot park laps tomorrow though!
