Alright so i go to a diner just about every weekend with my dad, and 94% of the time this old man is there, and over a year or two we have been talking and he is a real nice guy. So just a few days ago my dad and i go to the diner, and he is htere. so he comes over and we start talking cars, and i tell him a big carguy and looking for my first car. He asks me what im looking for and i tell him im looking for a nice VW. He said he has in his yard a bunch of cars and one that i may be interested in. so i ask and he said it was a 1971 VW camper bus. he was telling me how he wants someone to fix it up, then asked if i was interested on working on it. i told him yes that sounds like fun. so he tells me to stop by with my dad later to check it out. He also said if i were to get it working, i would be able to bring it hime and it would be mine free of charge. we show up later in the day and this thing has been to hell and back. the paint job is a custom camo done with spraypaint. So after talking to the guy all it needs is a new battery and a few other things, not major. So what i was thinking was get it running (who cares what it looks like), and use it as a ski trip van. I would be using it all winter as a party bus heading up to the mountain, and for going on ski trips. But when summer comes around it would be parked in my yard, and i would be using another car for getting here and there. Also to add to this, i am joining the Air Force so once I'm out of highschool i will not need a car for 4 years. So it would be sitting in ym yard for 4 years not being used at all. So the question is, is it worth it to get the VW and use it for one winters worth, and spend most of my summer fixing it up. Or do i just say thanks but no thanks to the guy and leave it at his place to sit forever? But it would be a sick ski bus to pack everyone in and go for the weekend.

SPARKNOTES: do i get a free VW 1971 camper fix it up all summer just for a winters worth. then never use it again.
