Wow. I literally felt it was my duty to correct this motherfucking thread.
I deleted all the other posts, and will continue to do so. It is
incredibly apparent most of you kids have never had a glass of good
alcohol and are going off of what the high quality standard of your god
damn dorm is. And it is fucking painful.
For the kids who did post something intelligent, I apologize, and if
you post it back up, I will leave it. You know who you are. And I
applaud you for not talking out of your ass.
The rest....fail. I can understand not ever having good liquor, that
is cool. But posting it up as the best thing available for purchase is
just retarded.
I am drunk, so forgive me, but it is school time Listen and learn up,
because if I fucking hear another god damn person suggest Jack Daniels
as the best "whiskey" or goldschlager or any bullshit....I am gonna
go fucking insane.
Don't argue....just listen.
Whiskey or Whisky.....
This is what I drink. Yes. It can be both Whiskey or whisky. And
Jack Daniel's, while drinkable, is nowhere even close to the top 20.....
The best? In my honest opinion, it is hard to top....
Colorado Stranahan's whiskey. It is fucking amazing Just over $50/fifth and is fucking money.
Then you get into the whole bourbons vs Irish vs Canadian vs scotch. They are very different.
Bourbon - My favorite.
Best = Baker's, Booker's< Blanton's, Basil Hayden, and George T. Stagg.
Irish....
For the price - Jameson 12/15 year is fucking good.
Power's is also good and pretty cheap.
Redbeast is also worth noting.
Canadian - A lot of people will say Crown Royal....meh. Their
Special Reserve is ok...but again, especially for the price...meh.
Pendleton is cheaper and much better.
Scotch - Can vary greatly in taste. But since we are talking in the $50 range....
- Highland Park - 15 or 18 year old
- Macallan Cask Strength - add a bit of water
- Lagavulin
For what it is worth - Drambuie + ice is pretty damn good.
Then we got vodka. You kids wasting your money on Belvedere, Ketel One, or Grey Goose...stop. Please...just stop....
For cheap vodka - Platinum or Monopolowa are the best. Both under $20/fifth and pretty good.
The best though - Tito's Vodka. Distilled in Austin, Texas, and
fucking amazing. Just over $20/fifth and crushes all that expense shit
that douchey frat house president drink while trying to drunkenly fuck
underage girls.
A fucking handle of Tito's goes for just a bit more of what a fifth of
grey goose goes for, and there is no comparison. Grey Goose = garbage
with good marketing.
Tito's. Learn that shit.
Tequilla - yeah yeah yeah, quervos ain't that bad. And even
Patron is pretty fucking good. But the best for under $50? Definitely
others to consider.
Trago and Don Julio are better, IMO.
As for Gin, not many people are sipping or taking shots of it.
Bombay is fine, Beefeater's is good, as is Amsterdam Plymouth gin made
the best G&T I have ever had, but what do I know.....
Rum, I don't know so well. I have really enjoyed some darker
rums. The best I have tried was something called Mount Gay I think.
Yep, Mount Gay.
But with Tito's and all the good bourbons, it really doesn't matter. Rum is for mixed drinks - the rest are for enjoying.
Hope this helps. Sure, Jack and such are tasty, and Jager and goldschlager are fine. But the BEST fifth under $50???
Give me a fucking break. There is much more to the world of booze than
the sugary world that is Jack, Jager, and Goldschlager.
If you really want to treat your friend, read what I wrote above. If
you really don't give a fuck, hell, even skol of McCormick's will do
the trick.
But there is a HUGE difference between what most of you all calling "good liquor" versus what is actually good liquor
