Need help with ski choice +k

So, i need some new skis. im going to be on the east coast for the foreseeable future, so im going to be skiing park most of the time... although i may head out west for a bit if i get lucky... im looking to buy some of this seasons' skis (08/09) for cheap...


Im not an amazing park skiier, im okay at rails but want to improve, and i can spin 1s, 3s, 5s and 7s and switch 1s and 3s pretty consistently... I also want to get better at butters and jibbing around and whatnot, so nothing overly stiff...


i've been thinking either:

Line Invaders
Line Chronics
Armada AR6s

what're the pros/cons of each ski? and are there any other similar skis i should look into?

also, what length should i get? I've never had skis mounted at true center, so at 5'10"/5'11" i dont know what length to get... 175ish???

I would defos go for the Invaders. These are the perfect east coast ski, especially if you want to butter. They are medium stiffness, compared to the chronics, which i found really stiff. Also, because of the thinner waist on the invader than the other two skis, its better for urban, and i found improves control on rails much better, and allows you to get your lock and spin much quicker.

well you already mentioned your reasoning for putting your thread here so whatever.

if you want to get a sick rail ski probably the invader. super buttery and lots of pop. i've heard they take damage pretty easily though.

as for mounting, you can afford to go a little bigger in the length if you mount true center.  it takes a little to get used to having longer tails but it makes it a more even swing weight, better for spins.

all are great skis.  maybe go with an Anthem, I'm in Michigan and that's what I plan on getting.  They are medium stiffness and will hold up better than the Invaders on all terrain and jumps.  Slightly more money but a better overall ski with a lot of playfulness

had armada ar6's for a few days before selling them to my brother. used them one day on snow and really enjoyed them. had them in 181, which was massively different to my 178 JO pros. totally different ski but felt like you could huck the moon and they'd land it for you. definitely a good ski, and they look bitchin'.

ive heard the invaders do get kinda beaten up easily... and i dont want something super soft... although i dont have much to compare it to, but my last skis were 06/07 K2 Silencers, which i found almost too soft, and the got completly destroyed after a season, let alone 3...

are the anthems too wide to be good on rails?



it seems like the ar6s are the best all rounder?


and also my inb4 move to gear talk epic failed, seeing as i just got my thread moved but whatever.

yo the anthem is a good ski and is very flexible and i have found most all skis are the same on rails.

but i think the best ski would be the AR6 nice flex not too butery so you can fly some booters. but also flexy enough to do some solid jibbing. supper poppey good ski

ya i would say if you're good at jumps get the anthem, it's still pretty light and buttery, but more stable on bigger stuff than the invader

i think im stuck between the anthem and the ar6...

is the anthem basically a bit softer and fatter than the ar6? and if so, does that really make it worse on rails? because thats the area i'd like to improve...

i think im gnna go with the anthems.... what length do you think i should get if im 5'10"-5'11" and like 145ish (im a skinny mofo)

either the anthems, which would be a good choice for you as it is more of a butter ski and a mid fat waist allowing for good control on rails etc, or the AR6. The Chronic has constant delam problems and the Invader would be too noodly to do any big size kickers. Both would do you well and you would be happy with the performance of both.

id go with the 171 if your gonna be focusing on rails, a little less ski means a quicker switch up

I would go with anthems. A little stiffer than the invader, but more playful than the ar6, and chronic. At your weight they should hold up on all but the biggest jumps. You seem more focused on improving your butters, rails etc so i think anthems fits the bill. I am about 6'1" and found the 178 pretty short so I would go right to the 178 if I were you. The center mount makes them ski shorter than a conventional ski.

Not sure how many are left but anthems were $175 on sierraskis.com and just under $200 for the limited edition ones with pollard's art.

i have the anthems and i absoulty love them they are so easy to butter i can butter down the whole mountain with these and give you alot more support on rails and jumps since there a wider ski i here the invader breaks more comonly doing butters and not as stable wit jumps since there more of an urban ski . so i recomend gettin the anthems if u plan on doing more butter and jumps
