so today went dirtbiking with my buddies and were given'er hell. on our way back my sprocket decided it needed to break. i ended up having to push my bike for about 2 miles. i am beat and have some repairs to do
sick time other wise first day out for the year and it was epic. one of my friends flew over the handle bars after he ran into a ditch that magically apeered. pretty sure i need to buy a 450 for gods sake i rode my buddys and really enjoyed it
i have helmet cam footage of my KTM 250F being dead even with two other ktm 300 xc's.
it has the KTM 280 kit and a slip on FMF silencer, thats it!!! and it was right next to them the whole way!! trust me man it rips! if you want to go four stroke dont think you have to go with the heavy 450, it depends what you want to do ya know?
you'd be suprised. the KTM's hold up brilliantly compared to the jap bikes. Last year i raced my 250f all season, at the end we brought it to our dealer sponsor (canyon motorsports) and they check the valves, everything was fine, didnt have to adjust a thing.
you need to pay for the oil filters which is more but not much. its been great so far, not one DNF (knock on wood) in probably over 35 races or so
The last time I went d biking (a few weeks ago b/c im @ school) I looked down at my back sprocket and saw like 4 of the 7 to 8 bolts spinning. haha it sucked so bad, but an easy fix...anybody know where to go for a cheap air filter? Should I just make my own?
i only use the skin covers if its a rediculously dusty race, like the ones where you ride through fields at 20 mph riding the edge of the trail watching the ribbon because you cant see your front fender. (true story)
but always oil up your filter, my dad cleans them using gas, and then has a twin-air station that he dips them and coats them in a special blue oil that i think twin air makes, then lets them dry (somewhat) overnight, then takes a little bit of bel-ray waterproof grease or something and lines the outside of the filter. this creates a better seal than just throwing on a dryed out filter.
so far this process has resluted in no DNF's, even in that dusty race people were clogging carbs like it was thier job, we kept on truckin!!
Nice work! I usually soak mine in gasoline and that blue oil stuff you were talking about, for my road bike and my offroad bikes/quads.. works great for sure.
i just got home and its 530 in the morning and it raining so if i dont get to go dirt biking tomorow i am going to rage and you wonr heaf from me in atleast a week. FUCK!!!
