420 and life in general...

so basically i just realized alot of peoples lives are involved with canabis or weed or at least mine is... i mean i just smoked weed a little while ago, all my friends smoke weed or at least have.. my parents have and im pretty sure my dad still does, my friends went down to myrtle beach and all last week instead of talking about how awesome its gonna be to go to myrtle beach, they talk about how sick its gonna be when theyre ripped and chill on the beach.... i didnt go anywhere and since its gonna rain all week here in rochester im prolly gonna smoke weed all week... plus 4/20 is on monday so im gonna smoke some more and im sure a ton of people are. it might just be me or because its around 4/20 but it seems like alot of the threads on ns are about weed in general... was i in the twilight zone or does basically everyone smoke? i mean it sure seems like it is seeing as how in the non ski gabber everyone talks about weed, does that mean anything other than skiing is about weed... or does it mean that skiers in general smoke weed?im not complaining about anything i just feel like i was living a lie or something... ... idk i just watched that movie the business of getting high or whatever and it feels like it had a huge impact on my life cuz it got me thinking. i mean it doesnt seem like a big deal but in our society i guess it is. when we have a choice to talk about anything in this thread and its alot on weed. idk its just puzzling thinking about all this shit.... any thoughts?

sparknotes: it feels like weed is more important than i thought in my life or is it everyone lives?

I became too poor to smoke anymore, and now I can't because of random testing.  When you think about it.....it's a pretty pointless activity.  I try to do more with my time now.

When you get older and mature, you begin to see the great and small pleasures in life and the world of possibilties that surround you. Some people choose to do what they love, create music, travel, make the world a better place. Eventually you'll realize that smoking is...so so, when compared to doing what you love and getting the fullest out of life. It's fine if you want to smoke, if that's what you love, but don't let it control your life.

because with that weed, you will become munchy, and when munchy you will buy food, therefore spending more money than the origianl hot dog would have cost

Oh, i don't know if it is a stage kind of thing. If you spend roughly 20 bucks a month, it's not that bad at all. I dont agree with the statement that it is a big part of my life, hell I only smoke when i ski for the most part. And it makes skiing way better for me. So i guess the way I think about it is just like an accent to my skiing. And i have meet quite a few people because of fun gondola rides or hut sessions. At the mountain, everyone is always ready to share. That's why skiing is awesome, you make friends and every one is always happy because they are doing what they enjoy. So thats what i think about weed.

its not just a thing of our youth. I know plenty of parents/doctors/lawyers/teachers and so on that still smoke weed. But a lot of them keep it a secret from the youth because it is a taboo subject.

No way man...first off it's a financially and creatively profitable hobby. I'm more than happy to pay the money I pay for the return I get on my investment. Weed makes the bullshit transparent so you can see what's really important in life. Lots of people say weed enhances the world around you, but I like to look at it the other way around. Weed turns down the volume on the unnecessary day-to-day stressors in my life. The best part about weed is the correlation between learning and being high. For a few years I was a typical slacker stoner whose highest aspirations were to find fried food in the next ten minutes. Maybe that's the "stage" you're referring to, but I didn't grow out of smoking weed. I grew out of smoking weed to be entertained, smoking just to sit back and let music sound good. Now I'm trying to challenge myself in school and in my free time by constantly doing productive things, and weed compliments that lifestyle. I don't have to watch trippy videos on youtube or smoke as much as my lungs can handle to be high. That's not being high, that's just being wasteful. It's more fun and proactive to rip a quick one hitter and think about how amazing it is that pine trees reproduce the way they do, or how humans are the result of the most massive and improbably statistics equation in the world yet we're still so insignificant.
Weed isn't something you grow out of, and if it is you're probably not smoking for the right reasons.

with that weed, you get the munchies, and since you spent all your cash on dro, you will steal chips and bean dip from a sketchy albertsons, spending the same amount of money and still getting high.

I not only find getting high enjoyable, but I also legitimately think it's a great medicinal plant. If I'm in pain, if I'm really sick, have a stomach ache, am super stressed out, having an anxiety attack, have a headache, or anything bad really.... smoking a bowl seems to help so so much. To me it's way better than popping a pill like tylenol or something.

you eat regular food that you have in your fridge, and plan that into your budget.  so instead of that movie or dvd or pair of gloves you use that money to plan for munchy food.

I think watching the Union for a lot of kids on her after it was posted on the JOSS thread opened up a lot of kids to talk about how much they use, and not be scared about talking about it, especially on such a sick place as NS.

NS is one of the last places i can go to safely talk about weed with people who don't know me and who have worldly opinions. It has become a part of my life this last semester (thank you Whistler trip) and I'm trying everything to build arguments against my parents for the dinner table.

See, my whole idea was instead of buying some extra food, that you don't really need, like my example of a hot dog. Its something that's obviously nice to have, but not a necessity. You can munch on other shit that you already have, cereal, spaghetti, sandwiches. You pickin' up what I'm puttin' down?

the abundance of weed related threads right now is because 420 is tomorrow and everyones getting excited. and yes there is a very high percentage of people who smoke on this site, because we are mostly teenagers and all skiers. you'd be surprised by how much of the general population smokes, it just doesnt show up in the statistics as much because a lot of people wouldn't want to admit it in a census/survey. i've seen 55 year old women come into the vapour lounge each with a fat sack of dank like it aint no thang. the way it affects your life varies from person to person greatly, to me, its just an awesome plant that gets me lifted when i want to be. it doesnt prevent me from doing anything that i would normally do, and its effects dont seem to linger when i'm not high. as far as money goes, think of it this way - you spend $15 for a mickey of liqour (canada) to get drunk for one night. you spend $15 for 1.5 grams of dank nugs which, to yourself, would get you high 3 to 5 times, or way more in a vaporizer. if you feel it is an obstacle in your life, tone it down or quit, its not hard at all.

ummm i first smoked in 8th grade.... didnt like it... but was always down to try new shit....

the only drugs i really ever loved was ecstasy (bad bad bad drug. seriously makes you stupid... i cant quote a science expirament but i can quote what happend to me)

and i seeminly couldnt get enough of much much worse and harder drugs... which always turns out NO BUENO....

but its such a personal thing that addiction treatment is weird (as far as how much of your life it really takes up) IM NOT CALLING YOU AN ADDICT THIS IS ACTUALLY PRETTY OFF-TOPIC////

but some people smoke like a chimney cuz its high school and fuck else are you supposed to do?

and others start smokin bud like religiously...... i've been in rehabs and detox's with kids in there for pot and shit........ i always kinda thought they were a joke.... i mean what the fuck do they know about being dope sick/?

but if they let em in the addictionologists must honestly think its a legitamate issue.....

i guess if you let ANYTHING become your life it can be considered an addiction whether your physically withdrawling or not.

WOW most of all of you are rediculous!!  WEED IS WONDERFUL AND SOULD BE ENJOYED BY ALL PEOPLE!!!!    I really don't even know what people do if they don't smoke   it enhances everthing.   yeah I could go on and on what you could do if you don't have weed but still really wtf do people do when there done jet skiing or snowmobile or some shit    ALWAYS GOING TO SMOKE WEED!!!  I DON'T KNOW HOW PEOPLE GET THROUGH LIFE OR JUST A DAY WITHOUT SMOKING!!!     HAPPY 4/20 TOO ALL    I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A VERY HIGH DAY!!!!!

i agree, whenever we had group and a weed and percocet kid talked about the struggle i always wanted to jump across the circle and pick up a chair and beat the kid with it....

alas i did not.....

but hey most detox's are mad hard to get into.... i have struggled many a time to get into detox so if they let these pot smoking douchebags in they must have their reasons...

i was in a room with my dad trying to get into detox, the big fat dumb bitch said the only way they would let me in is if we pay privately (ugggh fuuuuuck that) saying that insurance wouldnt pay for it because i cant die from withdrawls off dope..... she seriously said.... "maybe you should pick up drinkin cuz than we could let you in"

so i tear'd up and left cuz i really wanted to get clean but couldnt... so i ran away for a bit and was shootin shit up like a fuckin' mad man....

consequently i decided i was gonna get over on the insurance company and do some Xanax (benzodiazapines *sp*) so that insurance would pay for it cuz you CAN MOST CERTAINLY die from xanax withdrawls.... well long story short instead of doin em just to get it in my urine i got full blown addicted for 7 months.... my god benzo withdrawls are worse than dope.... i've had 3 seizures because of it..... (truthfully dope withdrawls are the worst in there own way but OVERALL benzos take the cake)
