I'm an Ipod noob

so I just got my first ipod touch and i have no idea how to delete music off of my ipod? my songs are all grey and i can't click them or anything. any help?

When your ipod is connected to your computer you should be able to click your ipod tab in itunes and it will bring up all the stuff of your ipod currently, and you should be able to reformat it there

when i bring up my ipod on my itunes every song turn grey and unclickable, so it won't let me do anything
