ok i own both, a macbook and a mini. your not going to see much difference. you cant change the vid card on the mb, or the mini and i believe this is where the quality thing comes in (correct me if im wrong).
Does anyone know a way to play torrent-downloaded movies on a tv? Either a hookup directly to my Mac or some way using an external harddrive? I've seen it done through an XBox, I think, but I don't have one. Are there any dvd players that are compatible with a computer, or ideally, and external harddrive?
Since the majority of torrent-downloaded movies are DivX (or can easily be converted into DivX) then I suggest getting a DivX compatible dvd player like...
same thing with an xbox, which can play most files. just hook up your hard drive.
i'm not familiar with macs, but on almost every pc they have a VGA out port, and most tvs will have vga in, just get a cable and you can use the tv as a monitor. I do that with my computer and tvs and it works great, looks really crisp if you set the right res.
Get a mac mini, I use an old macbook of mine now and its great for this.
I connect to it using screen share so I can use it like it is the laptop in front of me, download anything I want, watch it on my tv. Its better than a DVD player cause I can watch anything I like on it.
i found it easier to just buy the Apple TV, 160GB. Its way awesome. I can rent movies in HD as well as watch youtube on it. It will also play music, movies and tv shows. Its worth the investment.
