BMXing, im a beginner who needs some basic info.

Basically i want to start bmxing because its sick and i love the bikes and grinding and dirtjumps look like fun. Ive got a Giant STP atm, and im pretty decent at street as well as dirt jumping but want to try bmxing it looks a lil more chill and dope to me. SO big question is, what are some good companies to look into and how much does a decent one cost? I actually dont know a single thing about those kind of bikes.

decent starts around 400$, for beginners, then some companies worth checking out are mirraco, hoffman, we the people, redline, sunday, haro, odyssey
eventually you'll probably want to buy a sick frame, then build it up gradually if you want to take it right seriously. helps to check out magazines and forums.
i wiyld suggest checking out craigslist or ebay and some people sell some bieks they barely used for a good price.

Personally, I'd say stick with your STP, At my local hill no one reps the bmx on the Djs way harder to control is what everyone say, But for brakes id say check out odessy, And check Pinkbike for Cheap BMXs

this was super helpful for me. And as for brakes, I use no brakes for street and put on just the back brake for djing. DJing is a little harder to learn on a bmx at first but is so much fun when you get the hang of it.

ya funny story about, i went to a shop to get new ones, and the dude fucked them up and they busted. like day 2 of riding. then my bike got robbed! haha. i never got as far as customizing my own bike, but i know a lot of people do it and with good reason. im currently bike shopping as well. reading mags helped me a lot.

Uh.......A lot of BMXers dont really run brakes. If you want brakes just go with Odyssey or something, I personally dont run brakes because its a pain in the ass to break down my bike with them on.

If you're riding an STP I figure you have an idea of what you're doing and want to pick up a half decent bike.  Fit, Subrosa, Verde, Wethepeople, Kink, Volume, etc all make solid bikes and have completes for pretty much any price range.  When you're looking at a complete look for a 100% chromoly frame.  You might pay a little more, but then you have a frame you can work with in the future.  It's lighter and stronger.  As for brakes, I don't use them, but I've heard the best brakes on the market are Fly's, but they're pricey.  Well set-up Odyssey's are great too.  I think the biggest thing with brakes is the pads you use, but what do I know.

ive been biking for a few years and honestly if you are just starting look into getting an eastern or wtp. they are decently priced and pretty good. i dont ride brakes but they also have solid brakes on them. if you need anymore help pm me

Save up some cash and build up your bike from the frame. You learn a lot this way. And you usuall end up with a better bike how YOU want it.

Mirraco makes quality frames, from first hand experience.

good brands for parts: profile racing, odyssey, madera, animal... actually just go on pinkbike, theres a thread

Get brakes if you want. But if you don't you better have good judgement. I dont and I've never had any issues yet.

Well
good brakes are odyssey,
the evo twos are amazing,
your going to want a chrome rim,
And for a while brake setup (odyssesy brake set up that is) it will cost $220
they gyro cables spinner london mod,
but if your into bmx it's worth it.
A really good bmx to start off with is a fit prk3
it will cost arounD $900 including tax CAD

And yes $900 is worth it because it's very high end.
if your not to stoked on the price i suggest looking into we the poeple,
There is a wide variety of bikes in the price range,
btu i sugest if your going over 800 look at the fit prk 3 and trl3
Alot of people with say go brakeless,
but it's more a feeling you get ridding it,
I hope this helps a little to anyone who see's this.

Sorry for the double post's but since you live in canada,
you wont be able to get a kink,
alos another good bike is the we the people 4 seassons,
already has good brakes so your set for that,
pivitol seat has alot of the smaller things you would upgrade first,
but if you have the $1200 and are willing for the best complete money can buy,
there the we the people envy.

Where did you hear you can't get Kink in Canada?  My LBS sells them.  The WTP Envy is nice, but not the nicest complete you can get.  Subrosa's top end, Sunday's complete and there are others.  Personally, I would never get a complete simply because I like to pick my parts and what-not, but it definitely gets pricey.  I think mine is worth right around $2000 or so.  Bikes, unlike skis, have lots of parts you can upgrade over time.  It definitely helps.

And i'd say envy is because i has alot of aftermarket part's on it,
but if you have alot then defenetly custom build your bike up.

Double post again im sorry,
But don;t listen to that.
My eastern outlasted anyother frame i've had.
And i ride hard,
try lots of things,
go big riding street case in park and jumps and it's help up fine.
Just because there is cutout doesn;t mean it's anyweaker. the cutout are were there is unneeded materials.

and eastern bikes really arent that bad as that kid said. my friend has had one and he treats it like shit, and it holds up. go to www.danscomp.com or PINKBIKE(to buy a used bike). stolen, fit, we the people, subrosa are all really good companies. dk is probably one you might want to ignore if you can. their bikes are cheap, but not a quality cheap. but either way, if youre just beginning, you dont need the best components, as long as your frame is solid so you can just upgrade your parts.
