Tall Jackets

i am doing a senior project inolving ski outerwear design. i am considering for my final piece to make a tall jacket or a regular jacket. i want to make a tall jacket but as my teacher says its all about public opionion and what is more popular. so i put together a survey to find the publics opinion. this should help me with my designs. So who here on newschoolers would prefer a tall jacket over a regular jacket? cargo pockets or zip pockets? one color desing, two color design or three color design? i pod pocket? pull cord or no pull cord on bottom of jacket? thanks this wil help me lots for my survey and my project. i will make sure to post the final coat when i am done making it. thanks alot guys!

tall, two big cargos at bottom for food and stuff, but also zips for phone/money/keys/etc, drawcord doesnt really matter, definitely throw on a powder skirt, and two-color

A tall-er jacket would be sick, but not too tall and a true tall, not fat. maybe like a +2 or +3 inches over what would be considered a normal size. An mp3 pocket is a must, it always helps out, especially if pants are sagged too low to rely on pant pockets. zip pockets are more reliable(i hate losing stuff) a pull cord would not be necessary if it were a slim fitting tall, but i guess it could be included if you want. And solid colors are the way to go. Also, congratulations on the name jim.

a tall jacket is too trendy. just make a classic looking jacket with sleek contrasting accents. and a pocket is a pocket is a fucking pocket. an mp3 pocket is such a marketing ploy and a huge gimmick. just put a pocket with a zipper or velco patch the opens from the top. a cinch cord around the bottom is a must. unless your teacher is an avid skier then they probably wont know a whole lot about technical stuff so you should be good. sounds like a fun project.

big ass tall jacket that fits kids that are big. because a 4xl tee isnt big enough for me (i have being 6'2) one and a half color if you will (like saga colors) bright colors.... zipper pockets PIT ZIPS ARE KEY. ipod jacket. one thing that ive always wanted to have in a jacket are speakers in the hood. that would be ill

i have to disagree. A well placed mp3 pocket  helps out a lot. A pocket on the inside built for an ipod will hold it steady, keep it close by, and is just damn convenient. Headphones on the outside is a no-go and headphones to pants does not work. Hooray for mp3 pockets!

tall jacket, zip pockets.

Make sure a pocket on the inside is lined with fleece or some other warm material. it'll help your mp3 or phone hold battery

tall fa sho.  i like zip and snap pockets.  i think you should do a two color design, but just make it like two solid colors, maybe a diagonal or vertical split would be sick. pull cord doesnt really matter, i i pod pocket would be tight, but not necessary

i have a predator tall jacket and i love it so much. its amazing in powder and has all the features everyone is talking about. the only thing is the sleeves are a little shot for my liking so make sure the sleeves are long so it doesnt look out of proportion

I would love a tall jacket, mainly because I actually am kinda tall.
One or two colours only, look at people's reactions to the 3 colour saga. I think one colour with another colour doing highlights and accents on pockets and stuff would be good. Kinda like saga stuff this and last year.
Cargo pockets near the bottom are always dope, and zipper pockets are needed for stuff you don't want to lose.
I think a drawcord at the bottom would be good, because I'm a skinny guy and all my jackets are tightened up a lot at the bottom. Pow skirts are sick too.

one of the guys I ski with made his own jacket. it is modeled after saga, but it is way more tech... it's not tall, but he really didn't want that. it's 3L gore-tex(90k or so), has sealed zippers and a stash pocket and an ipod pocket. And he made it for like $60 and some hours of labor.

make a fabric template ( or find one online/ at a sewing store)
buy fabric( hardest part is to find the right stuff)
sew together pattern
add pockets
add zippers
