Schizo....and what it means to you.

Well Marker's new binding the Schizo....

I am sure you all have heard of it.

Will this be the new binding to own, and if so...what do you see yourself pairing it up with?

schizo= more moving parts, more opportunity to break... im skeptical, they may be awesome but for now ill stick with my drill them in and leave them where they are technique

It means a stronger more versatile binding.  I swear.  I demoed them on next year's Fujas and it's a REALLY cool concept.  It doesn't add that much extra weight, and it is really easy to adjust.  They are much harder to rip out because the plate is built into the ski, instead of being drilled in like a normal binding.  It is going to be even better than the royal family is right now.  My favorite binding is the Jester.  When this tech is added to a one ski quiver, the binding becomes even better.  It is a super solid setup.

Schizo just sounds like a fancy way to say shit.


The concept is really cool though. I'd like to see some/demo some in person before I stand by these things, but it's kinda taking off from where Line started and failed with the reactor.

Im sure theyve done plenty or R&R in order to make sure they dont fall apart left and right. Just for the fun of it, heres a picture of them and a video of how it works...

The idea of course is awesome.  I am a one-ski-quiver guy and I'd LOVE to toss these on some bridges, arvs, prophet 100s, etc.  However, has anyone looked at the price tag? $495 retail for Jester Schizos.  That's insane.  I remember when the top bindings ran at $200 and I thought it was expensive.

One day the concept will be well and truly proven, and i'm glad that Marker has taken the initiative to try and get this off the ground..
As much as they have a terrible rep when it comes to their mid-level consumer bindings among freestyle & freeride guys, they still know what they are doing and they have been doing it for a long time, so hopefully the concept works out well.

I'm not saying they will just explode but they still have a shitload of plastic and wont last long for someone who is big or rides really hard.

They definitely arent the binding for me, I bet they work really well for a lighter person or someone who isnt really abusive on equipement and I like the idea of interchangeable bindings but I just don't think they are ready yet.
