Going to CU next year??? What gear should I get?

Yeah im going to the university of Colorado next year and not sure what new shit i should get for the season.  I want to get it now since everything is realatively cheap.  Right now I have 07 invaders that still fit and are fine but am thinking i should get another pair so i have skiis that will do better in powder and bigger jumps on those kinda days.  What skis should i get?  I also only got a shell jacket and kinda want a new one, can i get away with another shell or should i get an insulated one?  If you could give me some good sites that have sales right now that would be dope.

for skis i would defianately suggest 4FRNT TNK nothing else skis like them for park

also you might want a pow ski i would go with K2 Hellbents

oakley has very warm jackets that are relatively cheap if you find an older jacket

i would check tramdock daily to find some really good deals otherwise evo and REi have about equal price

Surface Watch Life. They are really good out in CO - fun in the park, but can handle pow as well.

well, if you have to keep the invaders, i'm not sure... but, i'd recommend finding a cheap pair of skis that will hold up better on big jumps (last years' ar6 should be cheap). and, you should get a pair of hellbents

that sounds like a lot, but you would be soooo happy.

anyway, onto outerwear. it really doesn't matter how "warm" your jacket/pants are, because you can always layer under it. so, i'd recommend getting a highly waterproof jacket/pants. right now saga is selling the whole suit for $300, and it's exactly what you're looking for.

i've skied co before, and you want: jump skis, pow skis, and waterpoof shit

Don't get Hellbents, you just don't need them....

Get something that is a good pow/big mountain ski, and then a solid park ski.

i think i might get the hellbents but whats a good size for a powder ski? im 6 foot and ski 171 invaders.  i found a website that is selling them for 300 but they only have 189 left

if helbents are too big, and kung fujas are too small, go with obSETHeds. they are what seth morison uses, and hes a big mountain charger, all around skier - exactly what your looking for. and they are fun in the park so i hear

Bro Rossi S3's wud be sick out there. Theyll work fine in the park, and at 98 underfoot, you wont have a problem with he pow. you shud research them.

well the only thing 171 invaders are really good for is jibs and small jumps. so what u need is something that can float pow, handle nigger jumps, shred the groomed and crud etc. so basically an allround ski. there a lots of choices but i reccommend the k2 obsethed or maybe the armada jj. any ski that's all mountain/ pow specific with a solid flex will be good.

ok basically te only thing 171 line invaders are good for are small jumps and rails etc. so what you want is something that slays pow/groomed/bigger jumps and crud. there are lots of choices in the all mountain category but i reccommend the k2 obsethed or maybe the armada jj. but any all mountain ski leaning towards pow ski will slay it. oh, also it needs to have a solid flex IMO. good luck

Buying Hellbents for you would be like buying a truck to carry groceries, but if you did get them 189 would be fine.  They ski really short and you Invaders are fucking tiny for a person 6 feet tall.  You need the 178, my girlfriend slays a 172 and she is 5' 7" and 120 lbs.

You need something versatile. We don't get THAT much pow here, so unless you have a versatile ski that you can take all over the mountain (171 invaders won't do), I wouldn't get a pow specific ski unless you only plan to ski powder and park.

If you wanted a pow ski that could still hit jumps and stuff I would maybe look into buying Line Elizabeth. http://www.lineskis.com/product/elizabeth They look like great skis I am looking into a pair as well. They are kinda fat but the made them for park that can go into all mtn.

hahaha alright well my original plan was to just get a cheap powder ski for when i didnt ski park then go out ther and see how the invaders held up.  but it looks like thats not happening.  so now im just gonna get a ski thats good in park and holds up in powder.

Questionable.  But definitely looks nice.  I think Oakley has easily the best quality I've found.  DNA is sick too, but you have to get stuff in 3XL just so it fits.

don't spent a ton of money on pow skis. look on NS and outlet sites for super cheap deals...CO doesn't get a ton of pow. how much do you ski park? i didn't ski a ton of park until i came out here, and i've barely skied anything else all season.

also, you may want to hold off on outerwear and stuff until you get out here because you can join boulder freeride and get sweet deals and proform stuff for reaaaaally cheap. i haven't paid full price for anything all season and its awesome!

thanks dude thats good advice..i kinda just decided to wait untill i get out there.  but since im from the east i ski pretty much all park and i just started getting serious with jumps this year.

the Armada JJ is one of the dopest skis ever made.......slays everything

If u want something a little more conventional (aka not rockered) go with the 4frnt VCT can't go wrong either way, luv my VCT's
