2 On, 2 Out, Switch-up, or Switch on?

So one of my friends has just converted from downhill racing to freestyle. I've been teaching him some basic rail stuff etc, and he can do a basic box/ rail slide fairly well.

But what does everyone think is the next step up? 2 On, 2 Out, Switch-up, Switch on or something different? i.e. which do people think is easiest, or best for beginners?

Probably the easiest trick for a beggining rail skier is either a front 2 out or a switch up(much easier on box than rail).

I learned switch on first.

Then 270 out.

Then switchup

And i still need to work on the 270 on.

ive learned to 270 out, almost 450 out, and switch on. i can sometimes do a 270 on but im still working on the switch up

switch on. But regular switch on with you bad foot first :)

it will  help him to learn how to slide with bad foot

then fs switch up and fs 2out

get him to do the easy stuff like 2s off then get all four 2s and things like that to make him a complete skier

make sure you can slide unatty before you try switch ups and 2 on cuz you are going to be sliding unatty. but i would say then try switch up and learning to sissor your foot...then front side 2 out and 2 on....good luck dude!!!

i learned to slide unnatural 1st then front side sw up then blind side sw up then blind 2 out (still working on confidence in this one) FUCK 2 ons they piss me off. sw on i tried it jstu feels madd weird but not too hard either. and front 2 out scares me haha

I learned sw-ups first. Didn't seem as scary as 2 ons or 2 outs.

i learned switch ups first then like butters then 270's on. i learned 2's out last even though theyre super easy

2out 1st, easy to jump off the rail doing a 180out on firsat tries.. falling on snow, fucking up sw-in, sw-up or 2in can hurt so fucking bad if you fuckup and get smash on the rail.

Definitely a 2 out.  that was the next thing i learned after the basics.  or just coming off switch if he hasnt done that.  also, have him do some 3's before he does the 2 out so hell be more comfortable.  Then probably switchup, then 2 on.

Get them doing frontside or blind 270 out first, depending on which one is natural for them. Then switch on is the next easiest. At this point you can go for switch on front switch up if frontside is natural or straight on, blind switch up if blind is natural. And then 270 on or switch 270 depending on which way is natural.

yeah man, i didn't even know how to go unnatty on rails when i first 270'd on, it jsut happened. and it was reasonably easy. easier than spinning off the rail in my opinion back then

i learned fs 2 out then bs 2 out then bs switchup then 2 on and then all the rest came after.

Hmmm. I tryed 270 off first but picked up on better. only gotten one legit switch up on an up down box... but id still say start with 270 out, front side

I learned to do 270s on both ways first

Then frontside switch up and 270 out on the same day

Then i learned back switch up and blind 270 out the next day i went up

But if he hasn't yet try getting him landing switch really comfortably.

get him real comfortable landing BOTH switch and regs off of rails.

then twosevs, and switch on, both are pretty easy
hell learn edge control from the 270s so then switchups.
then start worrying about spins on

first id teach him how to really lock into a rail. then i learned prtz 270, then switch on, then switch 270 on,, then 270 on then blindside 270s.

2 out, switch up, i did a 2 on b4 switch on, but onto a butter box so it dont count for shit, cuz i can do switch on to most flat rails, depends how comfortable he is going switch

 same here yo. i learned 270s on and switch ups on the same day. the next day i did my first bs270 out.
