Hood public park lifts and crowds

can anyone give me some info on the mount hood summer public park? i plan on living out in hood for a month next summer, skiing the public park, how are the liftlines/crowds? is it worth it flying out from NY for a month?

When windells/mhssc/high cascade arent at there private parks the lift line is really long. But that barely happens unless their park hasn't opened. The campers also can clog up the public park, but when its just kids skiing the public park its no to crowded. Still lots of people though.

Get ready to be stoked on watching tons of pros riding, most of them like to lap the public park.

oh word and how much is a pass for like the summer? and is it easy to find a spot to sleep really close to the mountain like walking distance?

passes, like mentioned, are usually around $800. Tickets are about $45 ish a day, so you would have to ensure you could ski enough to justify the pass.

As for sleeping, you can throw a tent up in the parking lot. THere is also a small national forest campground like 1/4 mile away, but if I recall, it's like $16/night. Then there is the airstrip, but you need a car or good hitchhikin determination to make that work.

Hitch hiking will always work. In fact if you work at timberline and dont have a car to drive up, tline tells you hitch hiking is a good idea.

hood is sick, you can pretty much camp anywhere cuz its all national forest and not have to pay a dime. The lift ticket prices are kinda wack especially when the glacier starts retreating and you gotta walk back to the lift. Definitely a good time though.

gonna drive up from the bay area with a friend to either there or whistler. Sounds like whistler has better nightlife and stuff, but I read here that the park there sucks. If someone has more info it'd be greawt if you pm'd me.

chances are you could also get rapped/looted by night as well.
just kidding, kinda. you might not get rapped, but the airstrip is an extremely sketchy place to stay. i suggest either staying in t-lines parking lot or at one of the many camp grounds with a ten to fifteen minute drive.

it is sketchy depending on the time of year.
last years tons of peoples shit got stolen, peoples car windows were getting smashed out, someones car even got lit on fire if i recall correctly.

i may be wrong, but i'm pretty sure you can stay in their parking lot. at least for a little while, maybe not all summer.
and if you cant stay there at all, just go to a camp ground. like i said there are a shitload of them around there and i dont think any of them are over 20 bucks a night.
