Has anyone done student exchange?

Im realy keen on doing this and wonder if anyone has been on one, I was thinking of going to Denmarkfor 6-12months.

where abouts are you doing it, if it is in a country where the language is different to what you normally speak, is it really overwhelming and hard to ajust to.

i was lookin to doing that, but i realized that that id miss my family and friends alot. but hey! there is a kid in my grade that isin denmark right now for the student exchange thing.

I'm from norway, and i'm in oregon for a year. I've been learning english for like 10 years, so that wasn't too hard to adjust to. But i have several friends who went to argentina, and some of them didn't learn any spanish at all before they left. But being in a foreign country alone makes you pick up the language really quick.

And going away from your family and your friends is a lot harder than you think it is.

Do it man.. It was the best thing that ever happened to me!
I can hook you up with a bunch of advice if you need any. Yea you will miss your family and friends, but at the same time you will mature alot during those 6 or 12 months you are away. Plus, you will probably meet people who lives all over the world.
The only thing it requires from you is that you have to be open to change and embrace foreign culture. That can be hard sometimes, but the outcome as previously mentioned is something that you can benefit from in many years to come!
I am from Denmark and I lived in Houston, TX for a year!

McMuffin, oy im from norway to. Leaving to usa after the summer. They placed me in Arkansas. But i quickly called em to let em know without skis for a hole year i would kill myself. So its going to be Utah or Colorado or sum shit. Excited as hell.

yeah, im from australia and ive travelled heaps but hte main thing is the language barrier. But i want to go some where completely foreign and with differnet language so its a totally new and unknown experiance. I really want to go to Switzerland or Denmark. Are there any places you'd recommend.

i have a swiss exchange student.  her brother is a pro skier on the swiss armada team and orage.  i am going to be an exchenge student in switzerland next year.  its pretty sick

If you have some money, Definitely Switzerland man. Such a nice culture, although i've only visited a week here and there

go to utah. theres better pow skiing there. if you want to ski park, go to colorado

Well both Switzerland and Denmark are relatively small countries, so I am guessing that wherever you end up in one of those won't really have that big an influence on your overall impression of that country. If you value skiing, then you should propbably look into Switzerland, since there are no mountains in Denmark. On the other hand, there is a shitload of other cool shit you can do in Denmark!

I am from Denmark, and currently doing an exchange year in the states. Im in Buffalo ,NY
Best thing I have ever done and i don;t regret it at all. So i'd say, do it!
Just be prepared to miss your family and friends and remember to be open the new culture and everything!

What program are you thinking about going with ?

And deffinately go to Denmark, its sweet there.

I went to Japan 4 months ago, skiing there is awesome, but id say that there customs and way of life is also very amazing

I am doing it too. Its threw the Rotary Club and it is a year exchange. We didn't get to pick where we wanted to go though, you sent in an application and if you get accepted, they try and find the best place that will suit you. I am going to Austria in August for my grade 11 year, unfortunatly most of the courses you take on exchange won't count, but its still going to be cool.

Best thing I have ever done...ever. Went to France for 2 months. Such a great place. Lived with an amazing family. Saw Live 8, went to the Palace of Versailles, stayed in their summer home in the south of France, lived in their fall home in the country (can you tell that they are mad loaded yet?), and just got to really experience everything. It helps that the dad was the CEO of Weber BBQ's in Europe. I would recommend an exchange to anyone.
