Sweet! thanks for all the answers! anyone else, please go hit it up. i posted this on TGR too, and now the majority of my answers are definitely from there, would love to get a bunch of NS to fill it out to balance it out, cause this is really the market i wanna focus on.
and yeah, I'm definitely going along the path of the turntable, as far as how its built and skis, but i really want to make something with lateral release (fewer blown knees), and a minimalistic, but all metal construction.
a much more durable brake system is definitely a big part of the concept too
but its good to hear you guys also agree that everything on the market just doesnt really work like it could. Cause to me, the only ones that come close are turntables, jesters (though i personally dont like them at all), and high end salys, and they all have serious problems. I think with this segment of skiing exploding like it is, theres a pretty serious business case for a well designed, freeski specific binding, that ISN'T just a re skin of 50 year old technology.
As for producability potential, and what exactly Im doing.
Im a product design student at Ohio State, and the day after i graduate Im getting out of this god forsaken state, and would like to start building a ski company of my own, or potentially working with a major manufacturer. So Yes, I would say this project certainly has potential for production/further development, cause, I dont know about you guys, but bindings suck, and id really like to change that.
