You could use snowgel too. I read the thread on that stuff, and they were saying that it makes drop ins way fast. Bobby Brown had a sick rail/box kind of thing in his back yard. Supposedly it's six 10 foot long 1in od white pvc, attached to a 2 x 6. It would be a good cheap way for you to get started. Set it up as a down and then make your dfd's once you get the feel for it. I was pricing it out yesterday and I think I could build one for less than $20. Also the transition on your drop in from down to flat should be tapered a little. You could just lay another small piece of plywood down on the seam and that would make it smoother.
