So i woke up to this this morning...

i got up at 6 AM to study for my psych exam, looked out the window, and saw this- thought it was pretty cool so i decided to post it here.

let me know what you think- i feel like the branches are in the way, but there was no way in hell i was about to go outside at 6 AM since it was about 20 degrees out and i just got up

oops- forgot to mention that i have never done a sunset/sunrise photo and am looking for tips (the main reason i decided to post this), so any tips are appreciated!

use a tripod to get the picture more steady

I dont know if this is a good tip but overexpose a bit so you can get the orange realy bright and the rest black. I would get the spotlight out... you can always shop it

I think what you mean is under expose a little.

The brightness will stand out more and the branches etc... will become straight up black.



My advice:

Always shoot with a tripod like some have said, it makes your pictures look infinitely better. Also, watch out for things like that light post, they draw away from the attention of the actual sunset. Lastly as you begin to take more photos like this think about having the horizon line not dead center. Maybe have more sky showing than land. It makes the photos more interesting to the viewer.

I know that might be a little more than you wanted in terms of a critique but oh wells. Keep shooting son, your pictures will get better and better!
