Desktop, if you have seen fast and fu**ing ridiculous a desktop is like the evo:s with super charger, nos, brembo brakes and all that stuff. Im on my third laptop now and i always end up with the same problem, overheating. And still i have to buy them because i need it in university studies. I have changed the hard disk 4 times, gfx card 2 times, motherboard 1 time. It gets damn expensive because the parts are more expensive for laptops and often you cant even change them by yourself like you can with a desktop.
Summary, get a desktop if you dont really need the mobility, desktops are also better if you want to upgrade and improve them.
Excuse my spelling, im finnish.

laptops may be mobile, but they get outdated pretty quickly and have hardly any expansion options. and nobody is going to try and steal your desktop.

their also much more comfortable, and you also get a much better computer for the same price as any laptop.

find the nicest laptop you can afford, look at its specks and then look at a desktop for the same price.

as mentioned before, depends on what you're going to use it for..
i'd recommend a laptop though, because i'm guessing you just use it to go on ns, and do few other small, trivial tasks, because otherwise you wouldn't be asking us what to get
