People who work in retail: dumb things customers have asked/said to you

i work at a grocery store, as a cashier. every time something doesn't scan, they say "so it doesn't scan, so i get it for free?"

So, I work at a ski shop during ski season. This older lady comes in and right away I could tell she was going to be a bitch. I say "can I help you with something?" and she says "yes, I need a pair of black Nordica boots in a 23.5." So I'm just thinking... what the fuck... takes me a second and I say "alright well have a seat and we'll get you fitted and see what we can do." The Bitch says "well I told you my size and what boots I wanted I don't see why I need to be fitted." So I say "every boot fits differently and I just want to make sure you get the right fit ma'am." Her - "okay well i suppose"

I pull out a Nordica size 23.5 mondo (not black just fitting size) she gets very passive aggressive when I ask her to put one on. I ask how it fits and she says "a little small, what size is this?"     "23.5"    "oh, well then this is the size I want. This boot is NOT black though..." (we don't have any black Nordicas at the end of the season, we get really picked over) I say well, "it's a dark gray and black, and that is the closest we have right now. Maybe white would work?"    "No. Maybe you have some skis worth buying. I want Dynastar exclusive 10's in a 153, do you have those?" (we just sold the last pair on the wall in that size too, were also out of backstock on those seeing as its almost the end of march) I tell her were out and she flips on me and says "I was told by Potter(my boss) that you would have these waiting for me when I got here! What is wrong with this place?" 

Facepalm time... trying not to act upset with her..."In that case let me look in our holds for you, I'll be right back"

Sure enough, the boots and skis are sitting right where they would be if they were on hold for someone. Her name is right on them... "Here you go, skis, bindings and boots all ready to go."

Bitch says "you should have looked there in the first place! I demand a discount because of the service you gave me!"

"I'm sorry ma'am but you should have told me to if you had already picked out and had the gear ready for you."

Shes being way uncooperative so I just grab one of my bosses and he says don't worry about it I'll take it from here... thanks for putting up with her.

She didn't get a discount.

I work at the bike shop here and sometimes people come in and ask if they can borrow a pump to pump up their tires and I smile and say yeah it's 25 cents a pump with a big smile on my face and 99 percent of the time they get the joke. One time though, a guy reached into his pocket and started counting coins and I just told him it was all good and I'd turn my back if he did it real quick. He then got it and was like " I see what you did there"

It's amazing how many times people put helmets on backwards too.

bahaha same thing happens at my bike shop.  a guy came to the mechanics part of the shop and asked if we could wash his bike.  i hate the kids that come in and all they want are free stickers.  that gets sooo anoying.  we also have this electric scooter that we have in the shop and chase the little kids around the store! lol

haha i work a bby in williston vt, and god there are some stupid fucking people, the worst ones are in home theater and computers.

I work at my uncles take out pizza shop/ convience store

Customer: where is your restroom

Uncle: We dont have a public restroom

Customer: You must have on in the back? my daughter needs to use it.

Uncle: Im sorry but you have to walk thought the kitchen, its against code for me to let you use it.

Customer: My friends own a restaurant and its illegal for you not to have a public restroom....rant....My
daughter needs to use the bathroom...rant....Or im calling the dept of health on you

Uncle: Get the fuck out of my store and if I ever see you im here again I'll have you arested for trespassing.

Customer: Im getting my husband *storms out to car with crying daughter*

Husband: (short fat bald biker wannabe) is there a problem with the bathroom sir ?(kinda politly)

Uncle: GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY STORE *walks around counter*

Husband: I dont want any problems man just my daug...

Uncle: FIVE *little closer* FOUR *little closer* THREE

Husband: Turns and shuffles out door quickly


Unlce: then walk into the back with me and is like (very calmly)  "crazy bastards... im going to go stalk the cooler you have things under control?"

Me: Yeah im fine

He then goes into the cooler. Its at this time when I realize that im alone in the store and this guys probbllly coming back with his gun... but he never did so it turned out ok.

i worked at a sears store as a cashier, and thats where i learned how much people suck

one guy refused to leave because i wouldn't specifically say thank you to him after he bought some socks for like $2.50. He was claiming that i "owed him a thank you for contributing to my paycheck." I refused and told him i make minimum wage as is, and i'm not making commission, so actually by him buying these socks, he was adding to my workload to make my minimum wage. He demanded a manager, so i call up a good one to come over, and she recited exactly what i said, how he was actually inconveniencing me, and therefore owed me a thank you.

We had another lady who changed the pricetags on something while i was clearly watching, and when i changed it to the right price on the register, she started complaining that it was cheaper, and how "the customer is always right!" So i tried  shut her up by telling her that i could either change it to the correct price, or call our security. She chose to continue arguing, i called them, and she ended up being arrested for shoplifting.

And whats more us that after she left, me and another cashier tried to scan it again, and it turns out the item was on sale, so by changing the price tag, she actually added something like $6 to the price.

Oh, and for the sake of the worker, if you ever need gift receipts, tell them BEFORE they finish the transaction. One lady was being a bitch the whole time, then asked me for them after i had already finished her 25 item transaction, so i did the usual thing and told her we didn't offer them. She was ripshit.

I used to work as an airbrush tattoo artist (yeah, I know...), some guy wanted me to give him a tattoo on his eyeball. I had to argue with him for like 5 minutes on why it wasn't a good idea to spray paint into his eyeball.

Since I was at lots of fairs and rodeos and stuff I had a looot of old/gross/redneck women hitting on me too...ugh I'm glad that job is in my past.

Don't work in retail, I'm a lifeguard though. Our pool is specifically designed for old people to do their water aerobics and parents with young children..

I got some middle aged trailer trash mom with 6 kids come up to me and ask where the spa was. When i told her we don't have a spa she looked schocked. "County pools don't have spas?"

We also have these idiot proof lockers, you first have to pull up then open it, and I'm constantly getting retarded people asking me how to open the lockers. I make a point to roll my eyes and give a sigh when I go in the locker rooms and simply lift the bar and open the door. Sometimes just to piss them off I get the power drill and rip it apart in front of them just because I'm bored.

I work at quiznos and the thing that pisses me off the most is when a customer will walk in and order from the wrong side, it would'nt be as bad if we didnt have a sign, but there is a huge fucking sign that says order here!

This one to, when people ask me how big our sizes for our bread is and there is a size chart right in front of their fucking face.

Not the biggest thing in the world but when it happenes 20 or 30 times a day it get really fucking annoying

the funniest thing about this thread is that there actually is organic and inorganic cow manure.

Not retail but i'm a ski instructor and one of my kids asked if i own both my skis

i am a cashier at a grocery store. i hate all people that enter the store and would love to kill them. the WORST thing that happens goes something like this:

it's the end of the day and i'm thinking of killing myself, some old fuck walks into my line...great. so i tell them the total and they go on a fucking rant that lasts ten minutes about how pop was a nickel in their time. well i just say yeah, it is 2009 so i'm not too concerned. then they tell me how they are never coming back, they're going to wal-mart. i say that sounds great, less customers for me to waste my time on. they call a manager. my managers are sweet and just say well he has a point. they leave the store. we all laugh.

one time though i asked some guy if he'd like to donate a dollar to muscular dystrophy. he flipped out saying i was soliciting some bullshit to him or something. he stands in front of the doors and tells every customer to turn around the store is the devil for a good hour. the owner of the store comes down, cusses the guy out and threatens to beat his ass if he doesn't leave. exact quote "fuck calling the police, i will personally beat your ass if you do not leave my property NOW". guy left, funniest thing i've ever seen.
